24.01.2022 Presbyterian Aged Care Northern Sydney recently hosted a special Afternoon Tea on Wednesday 31 March marking the formation of a new North Shore-based South African Chinese Seniors Social Group. Over 65 seniors attended the event at PAC Northern Sydney’s community centre at Cutler Street North Ryde, some coming from as far away as the Hunter Valley. The oldest attendee was 95. PAC Operations Manager Sharon Tong, herself of South African descent, came up with the idea. I ident...ified a need for a social group so that South African seniors of Chinese descent could meet and socialise together, bonded by their shared cultural heritage. The event was a huge success with attendees enjoying finger food and cakes, games, prizes and great conversation. There was a welcome South African Buttermilk Rusk biscuit for every guest. Recent South African immigrant Teresa Leong and her husband Les helped organise the event, reaching out to seniors across NSW to raise awareness within the South African Chinese community. Teresa said the vibe at the event was fantastic, There was an incredibly positive vibe in the room. The smiling faces said it all. The invitation to the event even went viral! South African Chinese seniors really needed a social group like this to connect with each other and socialise with peers from the same background. I’ve been inundated with enquiries about when the next event is going to be held! The Social Group is Government-subsidised through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme. People interested in finding out more information about the Group should contact PAC Northern Sydney on (02) 9888 3380.
24.01.2022 Were absolutely thrilled that The Terraces Paddington project has won the 2019 Urban Developers Industry Excellence Award for Development of the Year Retirement, Aged Care and Seniors Living! The project is the largest single building development ever undertaken by the Presbyterian Church in NSW. At a cost of around $150 million, it represents a significant investment in the future of aged care services in this area. Were delighted that it has now been recognised as one... of the flagship aged care developments in Australia. Congrats to our CEO Paul Sadler and all the PAC staff who worked on this project for the past 7 years, including Bruce Christian, the PAC Committee and John Ishak. And a big thanks also to the architects Denis Rabinowitz and the Cottee Parker/JPRA team, Calder Flower - the residential care architect and Coneybeare Morrison - the heritage architect. Congrats also to Gilmore Interior Design for the stunning interior design and the team at Multiplex - David Ghannoum (Multiplexs Regional Managing Director), Raymond Yeo (Development Director), Natalie Borozan (Senior Development Manager) and Adam Stante (the Project Manager), who helped make the project a reality.

One of our residents, Roberta Elliot, gave a wonderful speech thanking PAC staff on behalf of residents for the care they give. We loved it and wanted to share it with our followers. Thank you Roberta - our staff appreciate the recognition for their hard work!: "Good morning everyone, today we have gathered to recog...nise staff who have dedicated long years to the residents here at PAC Drummoyne. We wish to celebrate with them in their service knowing that these wonderful people have become and always will be part of the PAC family. But firstly, I would like to pay my respects to Marita, our manager and core who works closely with staff and residents to uphold a cohesive energy of harmony and efficiency within the premises. Her door is always open, and we are all confident that whatever we need to discuss will be resolved and there will be laughter in the air. We are lucky here at PAC Drummoyne to live with assurance of respect and safety in our daily lives. As residents we can be at ease and comfortable knowing we are cared for by staff we trust. Our staff engage us with knowledge and love, and we appreciate the interest they have in our welfare. Our needs are diverse and there is nothing that is too difficult for the team to solve, from the busy front desk to chasing spiders at midnight. We are so grateful to each one of you and we are confident and happy in your care knowing we have the very best in that which is provided for us. You have made growing old with all its complications a path not too difficult. Your work is endless but never careless and we feel the passion that drew you to come and work with the aged. Getting older certainly didnt stop Mavis, who continued to be active and assisted with Meals on Wheels, played bowls, cooked for Legacy stalls and was a member of the Country Womens Association.
