01.01.2022 The Spring Plant Giveaway 2019 is an annual event held in Enfield by the Presbyterian Reformed Church of Adelaide, returning for its fourth year on 28 September..., 10-12 noon at 16-18 Warwick Street. Members have been growing plants over the last several months and have over 700 to give away for free. There will be free activities for children, a café with free coffee and free cake and, most importantly free plants (one per person). Being charitable and meeting new people are two reasons for holding an event like this, but it also means something more for organiser Nick Kastelein, who told us, I am blessed to have a balcony that overlooks a park maintained by people whose gardening skills are better than mine. In fact, I have a unique knack for killing plants! A chilli bush from the 2017 Giveaway met an unfortunate destiny under my negligent care, but thankfully, most of the organisers of the event have green thumbs! Plants are a gift, and I think that they are emblematic of all the beautiful things in nature that we can’t reasonably take credit for. Sunsets, moonlight, mountains, rainbows. We may pay for food and water, but air, light and sceneries are free. He added. We live on a planet where we can find so many sources of joy and pleasure if we remember to look. So please, drop in and take one of our free plants, and enjoy the beauty it adds to your garden, and hopefully each beautiful plant we give away will remind someone to look at all the other free beautiful things they also receive.
