25.01.2022 Together with her husband Alex, Sybil Shaw served with Global Recordings Network in the ministry of "Telling the story of Jesus in every language. Her funeral ...was held yesterday and those who attended heard of her deep interest in making the gospel available in the heart language of small tribal groups that often dont command much attention. At her funeral, one speaker remarked: Her devotion to the Word of God gave her a platform from which to serve. Here is a brief overview of a life that was packed with ministry and a desire for others to know Christ. https://globalrecordings.net/en/sybil-shaw

24.01.2022 Thank you to all who gave so generously to APWM’s appeal earlier in the year to repair the damage caused by Cyclone Harold at the Talua Theological Training Institute in Vanuatu. Here are photos of the repairs made possible by such gifts.

23.01.2022 [ASKING IAN SMITH ABOUT WORK PART 1 OF 3] Q: What was your first form of paid employment, and what did you learn from it? IS: "My first paid job was working f...or my Dad. He sold and repaired speedboats. I worked in the workshop, draining oil from outboard motors, sweeping the floor and doing other odd jobs (such a finding the left-handed screwdriver!). It taught me heaps. I had always hung around my Dads work which I really enjoyed, but being on the payroll changed all that. I was now at the bottom of the food chain and working for wages. It taught me respect for people who were over me, and yet it was probably the first time that adults treated me as one of the workers, rather than as a kid. It was both good and bad. I did lots of part time jobs during university. Many of them were short-term during uni holidays. I worked in a butcher shop making sausages in the morning and delivering meat to houses in the afternoon (and warding off dogs who could smell the meat). I also worked in a soft drink factory and a suitcase factory. I lived in the Northern Beaches (Newport) and went to Sydney Uni, so these part-time jobs were all about paying to run my car. I found factory work pretty boring and tedious. In the suitcase factory I stood for 8 hours on one leg and used the other leg to operate a machine that put a rivet in the suitcase. There were people on the assembly line who had done this for decades - I lasted a couple of weeks. The tedium of many of these jobs encouraged me to keep going at uni and to secure a more interesting job." Ian is our speaker for the next Zooming In On Christ College event, "Is God that concerned about my work?" on Thursday 10th September, starting from 7pm. Registration is essential sign up via our webpage at www.christcollege.edu.au/zoomingin #christcollege #christforalloflife #christcollegesydney #zoominginonchristcollege

23.01.2022 For PIM Teams its not all all red dirt, flies and heat! This past week, during a Bible study in the Tasmanian midlands, the weather made a dramatic change cove...ring the whole area in snow in less than 90 minutes. Kim managed to get home before the roads were closed. Isaiah 55:10-11 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

19.01.2022 In 2016 PresAID held an appeal for funds to build the Mkuyu Prison Medical Clinic in Malawi - a ministry of Christ’s mercy to oft-forgotten and suffering prison...ers. This was in partnership with our partner church in Malawi Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (Blantyre Synod). In this short video, the Rev Stanley Chimeysa, CCAP Blantyre Synod Prisons Chaplain, provides a quick tour of the work which has been beautifully restored after devastating floods nearly destroyed it a year ago. Thank you to those who gave. This is a wonderful reminder that God is at work despite the world being locked down. Why not ask your pastor whether you can have this video shown and Christian prison ministry prayed for during the services on Sunday?

19.01.2022 Today’s Quick Word for Monday, Nov 16 from Rev Bruce Christian: Luke 1:1-2 : Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eye-witnesses and servants of the word. The Apostle Paul tells us that when the TIME HAD FULLY COME, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. 18.01.2022 Dear Friends of PIM We invite you to become a Founding Partner of New Dunesk. New Dunesk is PIMs bold new initiative to take the gospel to rural and remote Aus...tralia. It is the property at the centre of the visionary and creative plan to inspire, equip and send out people for ministry into rural Australia. Set in the wheatbelt of central New South Wales, New Dunesk is for the whole church. It is a place where everyone will catch the vision. A place where Jillaroos and Jackaroos network, Grey Nomads are trained and resourced, and Gap Year students gain a heart for the bush. It is a place that will see churches bush camping together, and travellers being drawn in for rest. It is where PIMs past can be remembered and its future expanded. PIM will never forget the enthusiastic applause when the plan for New Dunesk was presented to the General Assembly of Australia in 2019. The bold plan reminded many of an ambitious vision set by John Flynn. We are convinced that New Dunesk is our faithful and contemporary response to the great commission of Christ. Rural Australia continues to present our church with a need. PIM has responded with a workable and sustainable ministry plan. The national Church has endorsed our vision but now we need you to join with us to realise that vision. Founding Partners is a regular giving program to provide needed capital that will enable us to build essential infrastructure so our programs at New Dunesk can be fully operational. Whether an individual or a church group, if you are a Founding Partner your financial assistance will help to practically realize this pioneering plan for ministry in rural Australia. With ongoing monthly donations in this start up period, you our trusted donors can help us bring Christ to inland Australia in a way never seen before. Please consider becoming a Founding Partner and joining with PIM in this unique one-off partnership. To take up the opportunity to be part of something truly new, please visit our website https://pim.org.au/foundingpartners/

17.01.2022 "For many of us, 'doctrine' and 'theology' taste dusty in our mouths: we don't immediately see how they're relevant to our daily life. But good theology should ...be thrilling: it tells us about our creator, sustainer, redeemer, and what it means to live in his world." John McClean, 'Real God for the Real World'. 17.01.2022 Quick Word for today from Rev Bruce Christian: Hosea 1:8-10 After she had weaned Lo-Ruhamah, Gomer had another son. Then the LORD said, Call him Lo-Ammi, for you are not my people, and I am not your God. Yet the Israelites will be like the sand on the seashore, which cannot be measured or counted. In the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people’, they will be called ‘sons of the living God’. We might struggle with God’s enigmatic Providence today as we ...Continue reading

15.01.2022 Okay. Time for a long shot. Does anyone in Australia have a copy of the SBL Style Handbook (2014) that they would like to donate to a worthy cause? It's for an international PhD student who is studying at Christ College.

14.01.2022 "We go to where the people are... in their time of need."' At this week's living for Christ, we invited Paul McFarlane to speak about the opportunities provided... by chaplains in the ambulance and wider hospital setting. He likened ambulance staff with the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37, who went out of his way to care for the needs of a stranger. Chaplains provide support to ambulance staff, their families, and bystanders at traumatic incidents. They assist with providing support, spiritual guidance, welfare services and pastoral care. Paul is the Senior Chaplain with NSW Ambulance and leads a team of NSW Ambulance Chaplains as part of his role. #christcollege #christforalloflife #christcollegesydney #livingforchrist #chaplaincytraining

13.01.2022 This Saturday 31st October, is a significant day in the life of our Partner Church, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Timor Leste In the late 1970s Timor... Leste had been suffering for a couple of years under what was often a cruel occupation by Indonesia. In the beautiful foothills of the island’s south lies Same (‘sar-may’), a major town. Many had fled from Same in fear of their lives and for years lived in the mountains, often moving each day from place to place, to evade the Indonesian troops. Some starved, others were killed. Some fled from the country. Many were eventually captured. One of the captured men was a Christian, and when the Indonesian troops searched his meagre belongings they were surprised to find a Bible. The commandant asked the man We were told that you were all communists. Why do you have a Bible? The prisoner replied that he was a Christian, not a communist, at which point the commandant shared that he too was a Christian. After that, many of the prisoners were released and commandant set about helping them construct a church building. Over the years that congregation has grown to become many hundreds of people. It has supported many small groups of Christians meeting throughout the southern part of the island. When the original church building had reached the end of its life, the Same congregation, with government aid, built this beautiful new church building. This Saturday 31st October, the building will be opened with great rejoicing in the Lord’s provision with former President of Timor Leste, Dr José Ramos Horta, participating in the ceremony. Please pray that this building will always be used for the glory of God and the spread of the gospel and that through this congregation’s ministry, many in the Manufahi district may come to know the Lord Jesus as their Saviour.
