23.01.2022 When Educators encourage children to draw with chalk, the children are further developing their fine-motor skills of tripod grip, or palmar grasp - fundamental skills for school readiness and holding a pencil. If children are using a chalk board to draw on, they are crossing their body-line. When this occurs children's neurons in the brain are wired together, and fundamentally further develop children's language, and cognition. Children are also further developing their cognitive development of concentration, and imagination. Early Childhood Educator Friends

22.01.2022 Some of the Preschool children have been attending school orientations and so, we watched a 'Typical Day in Kindergarten' created by children at Narrabeen Lakes Public School. We also looked at the websites of other schools ... The expression of pride, beginning ownership, happiness, excitement and the opportunity to tell peers a little about their school was so valuable and meaningful. See what we were watching in this photo here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X27vqNfnPgc&feature=youtu.be Check your child's school website out as this is another way of preparing the children for their transition to school.

20.01.2022 Today we decided to plant some seeds in the tank garden ... and the children were excited to discover Sweet potato and Desiree potatoes growing perfectly after the tops had died off. So, tomorrow we are going to use a borrowed air fryer to cook up some chips (we hope).

20.01.2022 Great Teamwork!! Our Parent Information Night was held last night via Zoom. Thankyou to the staff who came to preschool to speak to parents and/or completed some jobs. Thanks to Kim, our Management Committee President for also speaking with parents; and lastly thanks to the parents who attended the presentation. We hope we answered all your questions and you know a bit more about CPCK.

17.01.2022 Here is a story that all of us can contribute to ... to ensure there is a happy ending. https://www.youtube.com/watch

14.01.2022 Mirrors in Early Childhood Classrooms help children further develop their emotional and cognitive development. Children learn self-discovery, self-awareness, and self identification. When Educators sit with children, they can talk to the children about what they see in the mirror and help to identify and label the different body parts - further developing children's language skills. - Early Childhood Educator Friends

07.01.2022 When children do threading, they are further developing their cognitive development of concentration, and problem solving; and their fine motor skills of manipulation, hand-eye coordination, and pincer grip - a fundamental school readiness skill needed for holding a pencil. 06.01.2022 When Educators create music rich environments for children it helps to further develop children's fine motor skills; cognitive skills of rhythm, beat, pitch, loud, and soft, concentration and attention span; musical awareness; and emotional development! - Early Childhood Educator Friends

06.01.2022 Well, the chips were delicious! Thank you to one of the children for autonomously organising to bring in extra potatoes and to Jane for letting us use her air fryer. In 20 minutes the chips were ready and were gone in less than 5! One of the children asked if they were real chips (because we had left the skin on) and another commented how nice they were when they had been salted before being air fried and after when some of the children sprinkled on more salt.

03.01.2022 When Educators encourage children to respect our planet this helps to further develop and foster an understanding of sustainable practices in early childhood - Early Childhood Educator Friends

03.01.2022 Some great Christmas gift ideas that help reduce plastics...

02.01.2022 Flash back to last Thursday when it rained... What fun to do some drumming in the rain, to jump in puddles, spy all the raindrops hanging on the leaves and grasses and practice your jumping and leaping skills on the soft sand pit cover. So glad we have raincoats but next time we will take off shoes and socks first!

01.01.2022 Children who engage in experiments become scientists that hypothesize, predict, interpret, and analyse their results.
