20.01.2022 Every year in August, a major spotlight is placed on rail safety in the community via the public awareness campaign Rail Safety Week. The aim is to highlight the importance of being safe and acting responsibly on, and around the rail network. Fatalities, incidents and near hits on the network can cause severe and lasting trauma to the rail employees involved, and the majority of these incidents can be avoided! The team at Prescribe Australia work to prevent and assist muscul...oskeletal injuries with a number of rail companies, this can at times put us in thick of the rail corridor. We can not stress enough the importance of staying safe around the rail network and this is why we make the pledge to be #RailSAFE. Some great points from the @tracksafenz toolkit: The easiest and best way to be #safe around the network is to follow the basic safety rules and respect rail signage. Always look both ways before crossing tracks and cross at designated areas. Remember trains can’t stop quickly or swerve; make sure you give them right of way. Pay attention and avoid being distracted by mobile devices. For more info or to make a pledge to be RailSAFE go to https://lnkd.in/g8btBJh #RSW2020 #rail #safety #railsafety

We have experienced increased questions and referrals recently from companies that need our assistance to set up their employees working from home or alternative workplace. This is no surprise with the rapid changes we are experiencing in the modern workplace. We understand that both your business and your employees have diverse needs and while some are benefiting from flexibility in work arrangements, with less time commuting for example. Some are struggling to find their stride, juggling work, family and an intertwined work life balance. Many of our clients are currently assisting their employees by showing them the benefits of establishing and maintaining an appropriate work area in any alternative workplace location, including the home. To do this many are completing our ‘Setting up an Alternative Workplace Environment Checklist’ if you think your team could benefit from this please get in contact at [email protected] Additionally keep following our page & we will be sharing more tips #workfromhome #ergo #safety #health #covid

I have never seen so many different lights, not sure that they helped in my case... It has been interesting to listen to the needs of our clients over the last 2 months and hear the various learning and development strategies they are implementing. We are very grateful that in difficult times our clients see ongoing value in our onsite injury pr...evention, health and wellbeing solutions. It is testament to the entire team, that even now, they continue to be approached to find innovative ways to prevent injury, improve health outcomes and reduce risks in their workplace. 03.01.2022 Most of us think of #pain as a result of an injury or disease. We expect it will go away once we have medical treatment or the injury heals. For many people, this is the case. However for others, the pain doesn’t go away. In some cases, you can have pain without an injury or obvious body damage. # This ongoing type of pain is called chronic pain. Approx 1 in 3 Australians live with chronic pain. How do I know if my pain system is being over protective?... If you have had pain for more than a few months, then your pain system will be more efficient at producing pain. This is what happens over time your system becomes more sensitive. There are many ways to retrain your pain system, but they all begin with understanding your pain. When our pain system becomes over protective, it stops us doing the movements, activities and other things & that are actually necessary for recovery. How do I know if I am safe to move? Movement is the most critical pathway to recovery and it is almost always safe to move. Get a health professional to check you over and give you the ‘OK’ to move. A health professional will be able to tell you if you are the very rare case for whom it is not safe to move. Injuries heal, and your body’s tissues adapt amazingly well to the demands of life. #chronicpain #pain #injury #rehab #workerscomp #icare #exercise #exercisephysiology #backpain #healthandwellbeing #wollongong #illawarrabusiness

03.01.2022 Worried about loosing your fitness gains? Accredited exercise physiologist Carly Ryan gives you an update here. Ms Ryan says cardio is the first area to decline, with significant losses in speed and stamina after just two weeks off. Muscle mass and strength takes a little longer, however if you have locked your exercise routine down with COVID-19 then you should have a read.
