30.12.2021 Is there anything you can do to reduce your risk of getting breast cancer? Or is it just up to our genes? Here are a few science backed strategies that we know for sure can help... 1. Food is foundational to health - eating whole, colourful, plant foods helps you control your weight and maintain healthy hormone levels. The added phytonutrients help fight cancer - think mushrooms and broccoli amongst many others. 2. Get active - exercise promotes healthy hormone and blood s...ugar levels and boosts cancer-fighting immune cells too. 3. Limit alcohol - the less you drink the lower your risk of breast cancer. And you will sleep better and cut empty calories. 4. Aim for a healthy weight. This is especially important after menopause because that's when most cancers occur. Fat makes oestrogen, fuelling the growth and spread of cancer in the majority of cases. Excess weight is also linked to higher insulin and leptin levels which can promote cancer. Following 1, 2, and 3 above will help weight loss to follow naturally. Here's to you prioritising your health!
