21.01.2022 if you’re anything like me, you like being in absolute control of everything. today I’ve realized, that there is great power in letting go and trusting in all the cliches you hear all the time (ie Everything happens for a reason). You can plan and blueprint your days all you want, but sometimes shit just happens and what can you do? 07.01.2022 girls are not machines that you can put kindness into, until sex falls out. Frida didn’t say that, Sylvia did (equally fierce, probs less stylish). I guarantee they would’ve been friends. They would’ve drunk a lot of hard liquor, smoked endless cigarettes. lately I’ve been thinking about daughters, and how frightening it would be to raise one. I see the news, I look at insta and all the images and messages that either destroy women physically, or disrespect them quietly, ...in equal measure. Silent deaths by a thousand cuts. this is why I look to women like Frida, who was magnificent with her sexuality and power without getting it all mixed up with anything else but that - she knew herself, she knew her weaknesses and her strengths, and celebrated both without fear or censorship. And wielded all of it with kindness, and integrity. It doesn’t matter how educated, talented, cool or successful you are. It’s how you treat people that tells all. If I have a daughter, that’s what I’d wish for her: Have integrity. Be kind.
