11.01.2022 A customer had over 400 DVD's they wanted to digitize. We picked up a N36L HP Micro server second hand, added a DVD drive, 500GB disk for the OS (running off the eSata port) and 4 x 3TB disks for data. Windows Home Server (WHS) 2011 was installed with the My Movies plugin and Plex server. It took a month to load all the DVD's. The Server lives in a cupboard and streams to the Plex client installed on the Samsung TV.
01.01.2022 Final configuration and testing completed. Windows 8.1 installed and patched. XBMC, VLC, SabNZB, Sickbeard and Couch Potato loaded. Airprint for Windows and Photosync-app installed. Testing of HDMI over Ethernet successful. When installed, this PC is to be connected to a monitor (32" LCD) using a DVI to HDMI converter. It will also be connected to an AVR/TV/5.1 setup in the same room using the HDMI over Ethernet sender/receiver pair. The cables will be run through the wall into a couple of dual Ethernet face plates. Pictured below is the PC located in the study connected to the monitor using the DVI to HDMI converter. The HDMI on the motherboard is plugged into the HDMI over Ethernet sender. 15m of Ethernet cable later it is plugged into the HDMI over Ethernet receiver in the lounge room, and then by HDMI into a AVR/TV/5.1 setup.
