12.01.2022 Will COVID-19 create a buyer or sellers market? Strong buyer demand suggests that our property markets will continue to pick up. The volume of serious buy...er activity on realestate.com.au increased by a further 0.8 per cent last week, marking the 10th consecutive week of growth. High-intent listing interactions (such as the number of visits to a listing, looking at the photos for a listing multiple times, saving the property, sharing the property and/or making an enquiry with the agent) have more than doubled (102.4%) in the past 10 weeks. Compared to last year, high-intent activity is up 36.3 per cent. However, its worth noting that the rate of growth in high-intent activity is now slowing, likely due to the fact that more properties are becoming listed for sale. With more new listings hitting the market potential buyers have more options and may be engaging less with properties they are not as interested in. Looking at the individual states and territories, high-intent activity fell last week in New South Wales (-1.4%), South Australia (-2.6%), Tasmania (-2.6%) and Northern Territory (-6.0%). Meanwhile all other states and territories recorded increases, the largest of which were recorded in Western Australia (6.0%) and Victoria (2.1%).
