17.01.2022 The Preston Fitness Centre at Melbourne Polytechnic reopens today! Due to the some of the Government restrictions that remain in place there will be some changes to our usual operations. These include: OPENING HOURS & RESTRICTED SERVICES... We will be operating under limited opening hours initially due to the requirement of having a COVIDsafe Marshall onsite at all times. These will be regularly reviewed in consultation with Melbourne Polytechnic. Monday to Friday: 7am to 11am & 4pm to 8pm Saturday: Closed Sunday and Public Holidays: Closed Due to the Government requirements, we are only permitted to have 45 patrons in the gym at a time. If we reach this limit, then anyone wishing to enter will have to wait until someone else leaves. OPT-IN MEMBERSHIPS Memberships can be reactivated by visiting the centre during our opening hours (we are currently not reactivating memberships over the phone). Members will be issued with a new membership card. Members who do not wish to reactivate their membership will remain on suspension and will not be charged. Suspended members are still welcome to visit the gym as a casual user and will be required to complete a casual visit waiver upon entry. ENTRY PROCEDURE Patrons will be required to use the same entry procedure as Melbourne Polytechnic. You will be required to scan in using the QR Code provided at the gym and will be supplied with a wristband for access. HEALTH & SAFETY All patrons are required to follow all of the COVIDsafe practices as displayed in the gym, including social distancing, sanitising and cleaning equipment before and after use and wearing a mask when not exercising. Anyone not adhering to these vital practices may be asked to leave. We can't wait to welcome you back into the centre today!
17.01.2022 Looking for a healthy way to indulge Dad tomorrow morning? Karen's got a great recipe for you!! PROTEIN PANCAKES 1 cup full fat ricotta cheese (drain excess water)... 2 large eggs (separated into yolks and whites) 3/4 cup milk (full or low fat) 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 1 cup plain flour 2 tbs of protein powder 1 tsp baking powder Mix ricotta, yolks, milk and vanilla. Then add flour, protein powder, baking powder and salt. Mix together, batter should be thick. Place egg whites in a seperate bowl and whisk for 30 seconds, then add to batter. Adding spray oil, cook on a skillet or fry pan. Added extras; blueberries, strawberries, banana, walnuts, yoghurt. A GREAT KICKSTART TO FATHERS DAY AND ANY OTHER DAY!

In line with the latest government restrictions, the Preston Fitness Centre will remain closed until further notice. All memberships will remain on suspension. ... We know this is disappointing and we were really looking forward to welcoming you back in the coming weeks, but the government is making decisions with the best interests of our community in mind, and we must all work together to reduce the spread. There are now four reasons those who live in metro Melbourne can leave their homes: shopping for food and supplies, care and caregiving, exercise, and study and work (if you can’t do it from home). 10.01.2022 On Sunday 2 August the Victorian Government declared a ‘state of disaster’ and announced that metropolitan Melbourne will head into to Stage Four restrictions from 6.00pm Sunday 2 August. We therefore remain closed until further notice. Stage Four restrictions mean: Only one person per household may leave the house to shop for essential items within 5km of home ... You may complete one hour of daily exercise within 5km of home with only one other person A curfew from 8pm 5am is in place where you may only leave the home to give or receive care or to go to/from work. We know this is disappointing and truly miss seeing you in centre. But the government is making decisions with the best interests of our community in mind, and we must all work together to reduce the spread. We understand that many of our members are ready to return to their regular routine and may be frustrated to hear this news, however we must consider the safety of our staff and the community, equity of access for our members and the commercial viability before we reopen. We will continue working behind the scenes to ensure the c...entre is safe for you to return to once we reopen our doors and expect this delay to opening will only be a minor one. In the coming days we will update you with a reopening date, along with details of the changes to centre usage that we will be implementing to ensure we adhere to all government regulations.
