25.01.2022 It’s getting to that time of year now where we are faced with more convenient reasons to get a bit slack. We get into holiday mode and it’s easier to find reasons to justify cancelling class, skipping our usual morning jog, and picking up a few more burgers and snacks than usual. While we are huge advocates for living your best life and having a realistic balance in life (especially at this time of year) - we also know we feel our best when we move our bodies regularly and m...ake good food choices more often than not. (Excluding Christmas Day obviously eat all the things) I don’t know about you girls, but I LOVE how I feel after a workout - and I love our little gym. To me, getting to class isn’t a chore and it’s not something I’m going to drop during the Christmas break. I may do a little less, but I know it’s better for not just my physical health but also my mental health when I keep my body moving. And I just love the feeling of going to our safe place, seeing each other, telling our stories for the day, smashing a workout and walking out feeling so much happy energy! So this is a little message to all my girls - and everyone reading this - to stay active this festive season. Whether it’s a walk outside, a Pilates class, a swim or even sticking to your usual gym routine (mostly). Find a means of movement you enjoy, that doesn’t feel like a drag. You will feel so much better for it inside and out. Commit to that 4% of your day - so you can continue to feel amazing for the other 96%!
25.01.2022 We don’t usually do these comparison shots but, we happened to take some silly snaps yesterday that I reckon you girls might enjoy! First photo - not really posed but definitely ensuring we showcase our fav angle - CUTE Second photo - being silly, sticking out our bellies and not giving two hoots about who might be watching our photoshoot - ALSO CUTE ... On your quest to feeling your best, make sure you’re not sacrificing the things that bring you happiness. Make sure no matter where you are on your journey that you can always have fun, not take life too seriously and can kiss your bloated belly against someone else’s bloated belly
22.01.2022 Have you ever been to a gym or a group fitness facility where the trainers have made you feel awful? More than once we have had girls say that they feel so relieved that they’re not being yelled at, or made to feel shitty because they can’t do something yet. We find it crazy that any trainer would say you weren’t doing good enough, or that you weren’t fit enough, or skinny enough (yes, some trainers are that horrid). ... Especially during your first week or so, we’ll encourage you to take the modified options when you need them, take extra breaks if you need to catch your breath and we’ll make sure you know it’s ok to go at your own pace. When you’ve been here for longer, and we know what you’re capable of, you bet we’ll push you but we understand that for some people, getting inside the gym took a lot of bloody bravery, and the last thing we want to do is have you leave feeling discouraged and defeated. This whole ‘getting into fitness’ thing isn’t a race. You don’t have a deadline. You can ease into it and feel like what you’re working towards is achievable, and that you have the support around you to guide you along the way. There’s three days left to get our 7 Day Trial for free - head to the app or message us to get started
20.01.2022 Our girls were absolute champs throughout the last couple of weeks. Short lock down, into outdoor training and then masks for a week. Thanks for seeing it out girls! I think we can all agree it’s really not that bad, not ideal, but not that bad! Tomorrow we can train mask free! Yippee!... How it started Vs How it’s going See you tomorrow girls!
20.01.2022 Another Merry Christmas spent at Bar Therapy with the PBF girls This year has brought many struggles, challenges and emotionally tough times. But these are far outweighed by the rewarding days, amazing members and incredible team of girls we’ve built this year. Love you girls! Thank you for choosing PBF. I can’t wait to do 2021 with you all
19.01.2022 PRETTY BRAVE FITNESS Seasonal Six Week Challenge This is something I am SO excited about. I have a habit of making things TOO in depth and complex - thus making it hard for me to make it recurring. As in, our past challenges have been great, but too much work for me to keep up with. And a lot of the extra work I put in tends to be things that don’t really make the challenge that much better, just more complex ... So I am now working on a six week challenge that you still get just as much from, but is easier for me to conduct so that we can run it seasonally. That means six weeks on, six weeks break. Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring! The best part (this is something I’ve also always struggled with) is how we ‘pick’ the winners. Throughout the challenge there are various ways to earn entries. These are based on attendance, participation and things of that nature. At the end of the challenge the winners will be drawn from the pool of entries. Isn’t that just the best! This method was actually inspired by our friends all the way in Joondalup at @iamfit.training (if you’re ever that way I highly recommend!) Our brand new website has launched today! Check it out for more info on the six week challenge here: https://prettybravefitness.com.au/challenge/ The first challenge is in 76 days! January 11. Perfect timing to kick off a brand new year
19.01.2022 Motivation is what gets you started - habit is what keeps you going
19.01.2022 Would you expect to hit a bullseye with an arrow blindfolded? Would you even expect to land on the board at all if you couldn’t see the target? If you are going through your day with no clear mission, you’re just reacting to what happens to you as you go. Your decisions are made with no bigger picture in mind. You’re basically blindfolding yourself to your goals, or your ‘reason why’.... If we’re not clear on our goals, or our mission for the day, how can we possibly expect to move in alignment towards them? A big goal can be overwhelming. Instead, first identify your goal and your reason why. Then ask yourself what can I do this month to help me move in the direction towards that? What can I do this week to move towards my monthly goal? And finally what can I do today that will get me closer to my weekly goal. That is your daily mission, your intention. And the decisions you make throughout the day should be made with this intention at the forefront of your mind. Ask yourself, is this helping me move towards my goal, or away from it? Small movements each day towards your greater goal are steps in the right direction.
18.01.2022 Rack squats on a Saturday? Absolutely Rack squats are a super compound movement. These will not only work your legs, but are also an amazing movement for your core stability, back strength and (as you will feel pretty quickly) these are also a pretty nifty shoulder burner. Who else loves kicking off their weekend with a PBF Pretty Fiit workout?
18.01.2022 I drink my iced latte while @madiwisecoaching takes a session. It’s called teamwork
16.01.2022 Tips on staying motivated Just kidding - the truth is motivation is just a bonus. A little rush of enthusiasm we get every now and again that makes things a bit easier. But no one feels motivated all the time, in fact I’d say we don’t feel properly motivated all that often. You know that feeling you get when you learn a new exercise and you can’t wait to try it again. Or you’ve had some down time but you’ve come up with a new plan of attack and you’re just itching to star...t it. That’s motivation. That’s short lived. What you need to adapt is a ‘non negotiable’ attitude. Imagine that skipping the gym isn’t even in your list of options. When your alarm goes off you need to tell yourself, and you need to absolutely believe that you ARE getting up and going to the gym. No doubts, no room for excuses and the reasons you come up with to justify those excuses. I don’t need to put a disclaimer - we all know there are exceptions to this. But for the most part, a disciplined mindset, a no BS attitude and a routine you can maintain is the key to success

13.01.2022 You don’t have to be full on, you just need to be consistent Move your body more days than you don’t. Rests are fine, but our bodies love movement, so do our souls. Find a form of exercise that you enjoy. There is absolutely no need to put yourself through something almost daily that you just don’t like. There will be a form of exercise you love, (or at least like most of the time ) keep trying things till you find it...

09.01.2022 The best form of exercise is the one you enjoy. It doesn’t matter which exercise is rated ‘most effective’ - if you can’t stick to it, you’re not going to get very far. Find a form of movement that makes you happy. It’s not necessarily always going to be easy. There’s always going to be days you don’t feel like it. But you need to find a style of training or movement that gives you good energy vibes when you think about it.... For example - of course there are days when you just can’t really be bothered. But there’s a difference between having a lazy day - and dreading going to the gym day after day. I’ve personally tried a lot of different gyms and training styles and there have been some where I just did not enjoy the style of workout. Nothing wrong with it, it just wasn’t for me. I’d find reasons not to go and even when I did go I couldn’t wait for it to end. I found a form of exercises I LOVED! And I made a business out of it Not saying you should do that, but you should try different forms of movement till you find one that you love, most of the time. One that makes you feel good inside and out. If you haven’t tried PBF yet and you love the atmosphere of a supportive and diverse group of girls - message us today to come and try out a class, on us!

01.01.2022 Do you find yourself jumping onto Google and typing in ‘How to stay motivated’ I think we’ve all done it, or asked someone, or posted in an FB group. ... What we’re hoping for when we ask this question is some magical answer that is somehow something we’d never done before, something that is suddenly going to make everything so much easier. But deep down we know there isn’t going to be one daily action, or a product or a spell that is going to cure our ‘I can’t be bothered’ness The truth is, there’s no difference between you and the girl who comes to class every day. She isn’t more motivated, she doesn’t has some secret boost of energy hidden under her shirt that makes things easier for her. She just decides she’s going to get it done and she makes the choice that she isn’t going to let excuses get in her way. Do you find yourself cycling through reasons not to workout, until you find one that seems justifiable? The difference between you and that other girl is she skips that part. Because she knows they’re just excuses, she knows she’s just trying to find something that seems like a good enough reason. But the good news is, you are JUST as capable as that other girl if you choose to be. Just as she gets up, makes the time and gets it done, you can do that too. Next time you’re trying to think of a reason that seems good enough to skip the gym for, ask yourself: 1. Will I feel better if I go? 2. Will I regret going? And remember, if your reason for not getting to the gym (or whatever your movement is) is completely legitimate, you wouldn’t sit there for 5 minutes convincing yourself that it was. Working out and prioritising your health is a choice you have to make every day
01.01.2022 Today we had the girls from @myonlineguy come in and do a session with us! You all did so well! Thanks for being my partner Suelee We can’t wait to have you girls in again soon
