24.01.2022 First of the season just hatched - day 16.
23.01.2022 Hatching happening as I type, more information when it's finished :)
22.01.2022 We don't just grow quails here. We also grow food for quails....and people are allowed to share. This year I have gone all out and am planting my front "lawn" into an edible garden as well. I'll show progress photos.
18.01.2022 Fertilised eggs ready now. Happy to post.
18.01.2022 First hatch has reached 4 weeks and is out in the aviary (which is the length of our house!) and loving all the room. They are sharing it with two pekin hens, 2 conures and a macaw who thinks it's all very entertaining! Second lot of eggs just went into lockdown!
17.01.2022 August is giving us one last blast of cold air before Spring arrives. I'm starting to look forward to spring. My front yard will be full of flowers, my aviary will be full of growing quail! I've hatched my first batch and they are just over a week old and covered in pin feathers. They grow so incredibly fast and are already in the "big baby brooder". Sending more eggs out to become future quail for other people. :)
14.01.2022 A beautiful little customer very happy with her new pets :) (posted with mummy's approval)
07.01.2022 Eggs available to hatch your own :)
06.01.2022 There are eggs in the incubator! Just a test run. Bit early for full fertility yet.
05.01.2022 In the middle of what should be the busiest time on the quail farm, all is quiet... 2 of my boys unexpectedly died, and the remaining 3 can't handle all the girls, so I've sold some, and I'll have to process some. And the rain... They do not like the rain. The girls have slowed down their egg production and are playing in puddles instead. On the garden side the plants are loving their daily rain. The pumpkin vine and the cucumber vines both have flowers and fruit on them. One lot of watermelon are flowering. The kale is incredible. We don't like it though, we only grow it for the quail! Some of the corn has started. Today I clean out the hen house and at the same time plant potatoes in feed sacks. The deep litter system is great!
05.01.2022 I'm pulling babies out of the incubator and already I can tell they are larger then they were last season. Bodes well :)
03.01.2022 (God creating quail - by Eliza May, Queen of Quail) God: get a potato... Angel: right... God: give it legs Angel: are we making Mr Potato head? God: no - give it a cute little bird face Angel: awwww sweet God: make it lay cute little spotted eggs Angel: pretty God: now make it delicious and totally defenceless Angel: no way dude! God: yes, way
03.01.2022 Last season all my boys said "Look at me!" Now my alpha says that, but we have one that just trills, one that says "pick me!" and one that says "I'm a cookie!"
02.01.2022 Chickens helping to prepare soil.
