23.01.2022 Thankfully logic has prevailed with regards to Jobkeeper and Victorian Payroll Tax and Workcover. Any top up payments, or payments for workers stood down are exempt. Payments for wages where the employee has worked are still included as normal. https://www.sro.vic.gov.au/coronavirus

23.01.2022 As part of the Victorian State Governments measures to combat the Covid-19 crisis yesterday, Daniel Andrews announced a $5000 increase to the existing state grant. If you have already lodged an application for the $5000 grant, you are not required to lodge a further application. It will be paid automatically. Applications close 14th September for those who are eligible but have not yet applied. As always contact our office if you have any queries.

19.01.2022 The Victorian State Government has today announced there would be 30,000 grants of up to $10,000 available to small businesses who have been impacted by the shutdown, available from Monday. 17.01.2022 JobMaker registration have now opened. The scheme will run for 12 months from 7 October,. We can manage your registrations, or alternatively they can be managed through ATO online services, the Business Portal, (much like Jobkeeper). The scheme will see eligible employers able to access up to $200 per week for each eligible additional employee aged 16 to 29 years, and up to $100 per week for each eligible additional employee aged 30 to 35 years. 13.01.2022 Jobkeeper has passed the lower house, but is still not law, as it needs to pass the Senate. The notion to include all casuals has been defeated: as it stands casuals still have to have been employed for 12 months. There is also more detail on the eligibility and forecast requirments. 10.01.2022 Jobkeeper enrolments are now up and running. Remember you need to submit your entitys eligibility details and employee notifications by the 26th April if you want to be eligible for the April subsidies. Note you will need to have your business portal set up if you want to manage this. Alternatively your Tax Agent will have access on your behalf. Also there are some teething issues in certain circumstances and some clarity still to come from the ATO. As always if you require assistance please contact our office.

If so, given the COVID-19 situation, the ATO have announced they will not take action where the landlord reduces the rent to the related party for the 2019/20 and 2020/21 financial years. 08.01.2022 Under a scheme announced just minutes ago by the Prime Minister, employers may be eligible for $1500 per fortnight per employee. This is a $130 billion economic package! 05.01.2022 Jobkeeper announcement. The Jobkeeper amendment extending the eligible employees to anyone eligible at 1 July 2020 (as opposed to 1 March) is now law. This means you can now get JobKeeper for the fortnights beginning on or after 3 August 2020, for individuals who are newly employed by the entity, or will now meet the long term casual the eligibility requirements on 1 July 2020. For any employees that become eligible between 1 March and 1 July 2020, an employer on the JobKeepe...r scheme must provide notification of the new eligible employees to the Commissioner within 7 days of commencement of the Legislative Instrument (commenced 15 August 2020). Note this only pertains to the original Jobkeeper. Further announcements are forthcoming regarding the Jobkeeper extension. As always, contact us should you have any queries.

05.01.2022 Jobkeeper will be extended to beyond the end of September 2020 to March 2021, with changes to eligibility and payment rates. The current $1,500 per fortnight payment rate will be reduced on 28 September 2020 and reduced further on 4 January 2021. The decline in turnover will also be re-tested on a quarterly basis.... And the decline in turnover test will be based on actual GST turnover. If your business has continued to have decreased revenue compared to the year before, you may be eligible beyond September.
