24.01.2022 You've gotta love teamwork!! A group effort today, with the first mob marked for the season! A very enthusiastic start with a great view from " the office"!! Thanks to Erika for all her help! All smiles... and only one " hiccup" for the day. 565 lambs marked and returned to their mums, at the end of a busy stint! Round one.. tick

23.01.2022 I am pleased I wasn't any closer to these lambs...they are getting " quite sizeable "!!!! They are ready to mark. Best be doubling the Weetbix for a few mornings beforehand!!

23.01.2022 Gotta love a Sunbody hat! Shouted myself a new Summer hat for the year ahead. Knowing it was going to get hotter, and considering the hours I spend outdoors, I needed maximum " sun protection"!!! Found this beauty , and it's passed the first test! Working a horse on a windy day!! I pulled it down pretty firmly, not quite over the eyes, and it did very well. Have even managed to convince Pete of the benefits of a lighter hat for Summer!! No small feat when all he has ever had... on his head is an Acubra!! We are ALL STYLE!!! See more

23.01.2022 We will remember them...

21.01.2022 Thank you all for the beautiful birthday wishes... Nearly as many friends as candles on the cake!!! Cheers Kaz.Thank you all for the beautiful birthday wishes... Nearly as many friends as candles on the cake!!! Cheers Kaz.

21.01.2022 Yep...still relevant... 12 months on!!

20.01.2022 That questioning look!! There has been a few old girls " booked" into the " maternity ward"in the shed. There are ewes that had big lambs and needed help, ewes that lost their lambs and had little lost fellows fostered on. And ewes with multiples that needed a little more time to mother them properly. Lots of other reasons to be " admitted", that I'm sure, only sheep could conjure up. They are in the shed for a couple of days, then moved into a larger group pen, with others. When they adjust well with their lambs, they are walked back to the paddock. Busy ! No other word!

19.01.2022 Wishing all our family and friends a safe, and wondrous, happy and Holy Christmas. May it be a special time with those we love, and allow us to accept and be thankful of the gifts we already have. Tread softly...and enjoy the day.

19.01.2022 Winners are grinners!! Clare entered a " Plan B" competition at a Bathurst hotel before Christmas! She submitted a short description of what her "Plan B" would be, if celebrating over the holiday break. Her great explanation ... if you are going to drink... what would your plan be... won her this great tent/ swag. Clare was thrilled with her prize, valued at over $350!!!. Set up in a few minutes, and oodles of room, it will be tested on the weekend, camping with friends.... And, yes ! I had a little try in it! Gets the from me!! It even came with a Camper's Checklist!! What more could one want?? See more

19.01.2022 Wash day!! With the evening being nice and warm, it was ideal to throw some suds and water at this pair! Not sure how long it will be before the next dust - bath, but grabbed the chance to wash Acres and Winchester! In preparation for the Anthony Desreaux - Reata Ranch Horsemanship clinics here next week.... I'm really looking forward to spending time with new and " old" friends, in what is always, a great learning space! It's not too late to join us in the ride!! Call Kaz for info.. See you here!! 18.01.2022 Travelling Stock Statements... well explained! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2994446267270428&id=120739701307780

18.01.2022 An evening stock check! A glorious day that even the cattle were enjoying. I just love the colour combinations of Shorthorn calves! Every one so different. The newest little heifer laying low in the grass, hoping she was hidden. Miss Jaffa and her mum Buttercup , had no intention of moving or getting up. A lazy old afternoon in the sun. All very relaxed and content! As it should be..

14.01.2022 Do they listen? Yes! I hope I can listen to them, observe and make the changes needed !! It is a two way thing...communication. It is not something you read in a book, but obtained from hours spent " listening" , practicing, observing and comparing!! The closer I get to understanding.. the further I realize I have to go!... But what a ride... #horsemanship #learningtolisten #gottalovemares #tryandtryagain #thejourney #farmlife #quarterhorse See more

13.01.2022 Mother Nature has a way of keeping us humble!! What an interesting couple of days!! Just to remind us, we are still closer to Winter than we think!! But the season is changing, and the little drop of rain has freshened everything up. Here are my paddock flowers this morning! Similar to yours Karen Giblett...xxx

12.01.2022 Feeling fresh this morning! The big fella can usually outpace the mare, but she took inside " racing lines" and left him behind!! Love watching them have a good stretch out!!

12.01.2022 Little thought for the week courtesy of Martin Black. We all make them...and some of us more often... but the trick is " to learn from them"!! A new week to practice. Let me know how yours turns out.!!

11.01.2022 Terribly true!! Go gently on the trails today...

10.01.2022 Dr Christine Jones has some very interesting clips out regarding soil health and grass growth. I attended a field- day over two years ago, where she was the guest speaker. She shared her remarkable knowledge with the group who were keen to understand the science behind healthy soils and their effect on grass growth . A very valuable day. Well worth a look at the short vids on there!!https://m.youtube.com/watch?list=TL3di6k8ueK_s&v=DC84sb5LGnI

08.01.2022 Coming up.... A coverage of the 6 day Reata Ranch Horsemanship Clinic here with Pricklestix at Laanecoorie.... What an amazing time with Anthony Desreaux and all the riders that participated in the intensive learning opportunity!!... Such understanding, changes and application! I admire all the rider's dedication and tenacity!! Well done to all involved. Looking forward to the October gather, with those keen to catch up with Ant from Reata Ranch Horsemanship to sharpen their Cow Working skills. Watch this space....

08.01.2022 Just a " snapshot" of the last few days. Just can't manage to send the smell through with the pics!!

08.01.2022 For all those who have an equine or canine " fettish".. Enjoy. https://www.facebook.com/100000505056389/posts/4208550069171787/

07.01.2022 I am a great admirer of Weston Artists, and have followed Maria's work for some time. Her portraits and paintings are wonderful replicas ! She is also happy to do consignment pieces. Would have one on my wall ,anyday! Just amazing. https://www.facebook.com/1205351707/posts/10221128187253381/

07.01.2022 A marvellous sight! Mt Canobolas in the distance, and green as far as the eye can see. The exception is the vibrant yellow canola paddocks! The reason to head to the top of the hill... check stock tank! And yes... needs topping up .The four fish will be happy to be topped up!!

06.01.2022 Snoop- dog... This footage of Pete's Border Collie pup "Snoop" ,taken 3 years ago. She was only 8 weeks of age and was keen to work! Even a blue ball!! She is a great work dog... very loyal, intelligent, very brave and has the biggest heart. I am not sure you can put a price on these farm workers!!... They are such a valuable part of the everyday agenda working with stock. They certainly earn their keep!! Who are your best canine buddies, and what jobs do they undertake?

05.01.2022 Everyday I able to spend time with my horses, is a bonus! More than I expect and it keeps the " soul fed"! Yes. Truely a rich day, at the end of each one! You could call it a " passion", " addiction " or " obsession ".All would be correct! It is driven by the same thing...the desire to spend time with these equines and learn from them. A rich life indeed!

05.01.2022 Over the past week I've noticed an increase in " paw" prints and scat in different locations around the horse's paddocks. We were surprised by the large number of tracks and markings that were there. So we installed a Trophy Cam HD trail camera in the centre of their paddock to monitor our " feral friends"! The camera did a brilliant job, capturing movement from 8:38 pm right up till 6: 15 am... We tracked their movements and patterns for two nights. The horses didn't seem ...to mind their " foxy friends" being there. Unfortunately, for the foxes, the owners did. If you are looking at Pest Animal Surveillance, this camera is a beauty. It takes the guesswork out of what feral populations you are dealing with. It might surprise you what other animals frequent your space!.. See more

03.01.2022 Couldn't resist this cool pic... Something light- hearted as Christmas closes in!!

03.01.2022 Would this be a " cluster" or " troop" of mushrooms?? They were spied in a rather hard, dry and open area ! And actually looked quite out of place in their selection of a " dwelling". Perhaps the collective name for these little ones, should be " huddle" !!

03.01.2022 A good drying day... So thought I would spruce- up this dusty pair!! I removed their cotton rugs, and found the odd thistle tips, had worked their way through the rug into their coats. So a good hose, soap up and brush helped remove most !! Something to be aware of this season, considering the " presence " of so many thistles !! Worth a check... could save a very "bouncy " ride!!

02.01.2022 Out and about on Thursday, in the coolest part of the day!! Me. Acres. And a " photo - bombing" fly!! Stay cool y'all!

01.01.2022 A little lick of paint for our favourite seat! Just in case... Santa needs to sit for a bit!! The countdown is on.
