24.01.2022 Many so-called wedding rules are traditions have become quite tyrannical, with wide spread belief that you have to include them in a wedding in order to be properly married. I call these "the dirty dozen" for obvious reasons. You can safely kick them to the curb!

24.01.2022 Finally. Mind you, I'm willing to bet that the wedding ceremony will be same-old, same-old 7 minutes of boring. But at least it is a start.

23.01.2022 Announcement this morning that effective immediately and until October 2nd, gatherings, indoors, outdoors, in private homes and public places are restricted to ...10 people only in the greater Brisbane area. And it seems that this also includes wedding ceremonies. Ceremonies and receptions at venues with an approved COVID-safe plan in place can go ahead with numbers approved for the venue. The COVID-Safe Industry Plan for the Wedding Industry is a plan for Restaurants and Venues, so ceremonies in public places and private homes aren't specifically mentioned in it. .

23.01.2022 Well-done, Northern Ireland https://www.expressandstar.com//same-sex-religious-weddin/

22.01.2022 Buyer's Remorse is not grounds for having your marriage annulled in this country!

21.01.2022 Getting married? Don't forget that you get to pick your pronouns! https://www.jennifercram.com.au/BLOG/gender_in_weddings.htm

21.01.2022 A breakfast wedding is a great option, particularly where there is a lot of competition for your date, your venue, your celebrant, and your photographer! https://www.jennifercram.com.au/BLOG/breakfast_weddings.htm

21.01.2022 Going OTT for Wear Purple Day. Rocking purple + all the colours of the rainbow + a mask.

19.01.2022 Concrete cakes. Or rather wedding cakes that look like they are made out of concrete. Yes. They are a thing! With all the restrictions and on-off changes that are happening with weddings, some couples are choosing to do the ceremonial cake cutting as part of their ceremony https://www.jennifercram.com.au//wedding_cake_unity_ritual

19.01.2022 Hot off the press - how to achieve the best photobombs ever ....

19.01.2022 I don't normally watch horror movies but I loved Hungry Ghosts. I especially loved that Suzy Wrong gets to play an incredible trans character without any explanation or miserable backstory.

19.01.2022 It's Official. I'm a finalist in the ABIA Awards for the 12th year running. Huge thank you to all the couples who rated my services so highly. #abia #abiaawards2020 #brisbanemarriagecelebrant #theinclusivecelebrant #jennifercraminclusivecelebrant

19.01.2022 Happy Mother's Day! There is no better way to pay tribute to your mother than to give her a real role in your wedding ceremony In a traditional heterosexual wedding ceremony only one parent gets a guernsey. The bride's father. Heteronormative practices are still too prominent in many same sex weddings. Time to change that!

18.01.2022 I bet you have caught yourself thinking this! We all have. And it is one of the very good reasons why I'm meticulously observing social distancing at all the weddings I officiate. I want the focus of your guests to be on you. Not on the celebrant's behaviour! Feel free to ask me about all the COVIDSafe procedures I have in place.

17.01.2022 The power of words

17.01.2022 Very interesting. I love the bit about every person on the planet having an X chromosome and why.

16.01.2022 Those old Romans knew a thing or two - "If you would marry wisely, marry your equal"

16.01.2022 This will have to go down as the definitive pandemic proposal. Just lovely!

16.01.2022 Finally, clarification about weddings held in public parks etc. Monday 24/8/2020 From the Qld Health website: https://www.qld.gov.au//public-health/movements-gatherings How many people can I have at a wedding?... Wedding ceremonies conducted in a professional venue such as a reception or function centre can have a maximum of 100 people regardless of the size of the venue. These facilities must have an approved Covid Safe plan. It is important if you are unwell, that you do not go to a wedding. A record of names and contact details of each guest must be kept for 56 days to assist in contact tracing if required. Private wedding services performed in public areas and spaces in the restricted Local Government Areas can have a maximum of 10 people attend including the bride, groom and marriage celebrant. Private wedding services performed in public areas and spaces not within restricted Local Government Areas can have a maximum of 30 people attend including the bride, groom, wedding party and marriage celebrant.

15.01.2022 Personally, I really don't understand why our society socialises parents to signal what sex a child is by dressing them in clothing that classifies them. That includes parents and baby clothes and schools and school uniforms. https://www.lgbtqnation.com//elementary-school-gave-stude/

15.01.2022 I'm sitting with a nice cup of tea watching last night's episode of Mother Father Son before getting into the hurly burly of the day. The MOST beautiful vows as Maggie (terminally ill) places the ring on Ruth's finger blew me away. Usually vows in movie and TV wedding scenes are trite, overworked, cut-and-paste jobs. Not these. Well worth watching (about 10 minutes from the end of the episode.

15.01.2022 Well, while the year turned out even more challenging (I was referring to the bushfires) the wish is perennial. So ditto for this year, 2021.

14.01.2022 This new form gives trans, gender diverse and non-binary members of the community the opportunity to update their name and gender information within the Qld Police database so that if they ever have an interaction with officers, their correct name and pronouns will be used.

14.01.2022 While, except for church weddings, we in Australia largely ignore the bride's side/groom's side deployment in ceremony seating, and it is irrelevant at same-sex weddings, you've got to love a good sign.

13.01.2022 Another wonderful (anonymous) review from a couple "Absolutely fantastic! could not have asked for a more perfect celebrant. Brilliant communication with excellent follow-up, attention to personalized details and such a joy to work with :) ...

13.01.2022 COVID-19 can't cancel love. Or, for that matter, proposals. And we're heading into proposal season, which might start a bit early this year as people get giddy from being able to get out and about ....

12.01.2022 #NamingCeremonies Naming ceremonies have a long history, though the Naming Ceremony as we know it is a fairly recent innovation that has evolved from much older practices. In some societies a child didn't legally exist until their father publicly acknowledged them. Nowadays, the legal requirement is to register the child, at which time you also document their name. So why have a naming ceremony at all. There are a number of very good reasons that apply to everyone. But for a ...same sex couple, or single LGBTQ parent, every single one of those reasons takes on added importance. because a naming ceremony asserts your right to parenthood. I love creating naming ceremonies and celebrating children (around 300 so far). And now that larger gatherings are allowed in the home, there is no reason not to go ahead. I'd be happy to talk you through what the ceremony is and what a unique naming ceremony can accomplish. Oh, and I provide pretty darn fantatsic certificates too!

11.01.2022 Just announced. Lockdown ends at 6pm. Many restrictions in place. My reading re weddings is that 100 people in venues. 20 in private homes and public spaces like parks.

10.01.2022 Happy International Dogs Day

10.01.2022 Simple, elegant, and a powerful statement. Some interesting facts about this statue - which you can see on Wall Street in the financial district of New York Cit...y, opposite the New York Stock Exchange ~ bronze sculpture four feet tall (122 cm) by Kristen Visbal ~ while it depicts female empowerment, it was commissioned for commercial reasons - to advertise an index fund that is made up of gender-diverse companies with a "relatively" high percentage of women in senior positions ~ When installed in its original place, it had a plaque which read ""Know the power of women in leadership. SHE makes a difference," "SHE" being not only the pronoun but also the fund's NASDAQ ticker symbol. ~it was moved from its original position, facing down the Charging Bull statue after complaints by the sculptor of the bull statue. #fearlessgirl #rbg #notoriousrbg #theinclusivecelebrant #inclusivecelebrant #inclusivecekebrantbrisbane

08.01.2022 Fuelling up at La Grava before a day of ceremony writing. (Birthday breakfast for a friend)

06.01.2022 Yes, I do! I know it is hard to think about wedding planning at the moment, but here's the deal I'm happy to take your Notice of Intended Marriage and your booking and start working on creating your one-of-a-kind ceremony with the understanding that if COVID rules change we can - postpone your wedding at no additional cost - change the venue at a moment's notice - cancel with a refund should COVID rules ban weddings... - hurriedly bring your wedding forward at very short notice if there is the opportunity to get in before an announced change takes effect See more

03.01.2022 Three years ago I mailed my vote in that dreadful plebicite, and took a photo of that act for the historical record, hoping that Australia would do the right thing and vote yes, but not at all confident that our government would do the honourable thing and legislate the changes needed for full marriage equality. Three years on I've said and written those magic words "two people" a number of times for every wedding I've officiated. And it still gives me a frisson of joy and relief.

03.01.2022 The kindest thing one can say about the rules and restrictions around weddings at the moment is that it is a moveable feast! For very good reasons - we are trying to limit the number of infections and consequent long term health problems, including death - those rules and restrictions can change in a heartbeat, and it is often hard to work out what you can and can't do. So I've written a number of blog posts addressing various aspects of ceremonies. You'll find them listed here https://www.jennifercram.com.au//blog_coronavirus_covid-19

02.01.2022 This is a terrific article. Well worth reading.

02.01.2022 MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU! Here's a fun fact ... the first time this punnish wish was used was in a political advertisement. It was May 4, 1979, the day Margaret Thatcher took office as Prime Minister of the U.K. In a full-page ad in in the London Evening News the Conservative Party congratulated the new PM May the Fourth Be with You, Maggie. Congratulations. And a tradition was born. I've used the phrase a number of times in weddings for Star Wars fans.

02.01.2022 If you said yes, congratulations, and fingers crossed for wedding plans that go without a hitch.
