20.01.2022 Fantastic new from Equality Australia "BREAKING: The Victorian Parliament has just passed a life-saving bill to outlaw LGBTQ+ conversion practices and open pathways for education, investigation and healing for survivors. Victorians born with intersex variations will also have new anti-discrimination protections. This incredible win affirming the dignity of LGBTIQ+ people comes after years of advocacy, especially by survivors who were brave enough to share their stories. Thank... you to the thousands of YOU who stood with survivors and contacted Victorian MPs calling on them to do the right thing. Together, we did it! This law won’t undo the pain and trauma inflicted on so many in the past, but it will protect countless people from having to endure the same pain and harm going forward. We know that LGBTQ+ people are whole and valid, just as they are. Now, Victorian law clearly affirms that too."
18.01.2022 Spotlight on previous PFA Small Grants recipient, TransFolk of WA. TFWA were awarded a $500 grant to go towards purchasing a PA system, to reduce ongoing hire costs with each new event. Our Small Grants program supports grassroots organisations just like TransFolk of WA to continue providing opportunities for connection, support and advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community here in Australia. Here's a snap from their recent Trans Pride Picnic late last year. Love your work!
18.01.2022 Meet Colin Krycer, a PFA board member since 2007 and an avid music lover: "I am Melbourne born and bred and at the time of joining Pride Foundation Australia I was employed at Court Services Victoria working in the area of Court Transcripts for 30 years until my retirement 2 years ago. I have also been a successful small business owner and worked in areas of retail and even live theatre. I have been actively involved in Melbourne's LGBTI community since the early days of the... HIV/AIDS epidemic as a hands on carer with the VAC (now Thorne Harbour Health) and also involved in many and varied community events. In 2017 I was awarded the Minister for Health Volunteer Award for Outstanding Lifetime Achievement with Thorne Harbour Health. I am currently one of the longest serving members of JOY 94.9 and for a time had my own show each Saturday evening playing disco hits. Other involvements include The AIDS Memorial Quilt, Australian GLBTIQ Multicultural Council, Events at the Positive Living Centre, especially World AIDS Day, Co Convener of ALEPH Melbourne. Over the decades, volunteering in the LGBTI community has been extremely rewarding and led to the most wonderful experiences not to forget the many friends I have made for life. Now that I have more free time my plan is to do more travel interstate to discover my own country as well as revisit overseas locations but only once we are allowed to travel again. I love music of all genres from Beatles to Bach and have a keen interest in vintage Hi Fi so I am happy to see a resurgence in vinyl and turntables. I am very proud of the achievements of Pride Foundation Australia especially in the areas of Asylum Seekers and Refugees, Homelessness, Disability and Healthy Ageing. Currently I am on the subcommittee looking after Small Grants which directly funds smaller groups, organisations and individuals Australia wide."
13.01.2022 Today Pride Foundation Australia stands in solidarity with First Nations people. We acknowledge that January 26th is a day of mourning and remembrance, not a day to celebrate. Today we pay our respects to Indigenous Australians who continue to fight for sovereignty and basic human rights on land that remains stolen. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land. #alwayswasalwayswillbe
12.01.2022 Emma Rose Smith is a writer, arts producer and educator living on Wonnarua, Awabakal and Worimi land. She writes about mental health, accountability, and the things she has seen and heard. She moonlights as a shrinky dink aficionado and identifies as a softie. She gives thanks to all the queers, artists and activists who have taught her. In 2018, Emma Rose was the recipient of the PFA Small Grant to continue her project, Unspoken Words, a festival of storytelling across workshops, panels and performances.

09.01.2022 Spotlight on Wong Lab Productions, who were recipients of our PFA Small Grant back in 2017, which went towards "Secret Gaygent," a satirical LGBT comedy short about what happens when a worldview adhered to with militaristic rigidity is completely overturned, with monumental and hilarious personal consequences.
