23.01.2022 For those who responded to the posts on CAMP Inc's anniversary, here is something to look forward to - Coming out in the 70s New exhibition at the State Library of NSW 28 November 2020 to 16 May 2021 ADMISSION: FREE ... Gay and lesbian life went public in the 1970s. Speaking up and standing out, gay men and women took to the streets proudly demanding to be seen, heard and accepted. This exhibition tells their story. Drawing from the library’s little-known collections of gay and lesbian posters, photographs, personal papers, oral history and ephemera, it pays tribute to the people and events that drove this profound social change, offering rich and compelling context for continuing debates and issues around LGBTQI+ experience and life today

17.01.2022 World AIDS Day: A day where we remember those who we have lost to AIDS and continue to support people living with HIV. It is also an important way to promote awareness of HIV/AIDS in Australia and across the world.

10.01.2022 Today (1 December) is World AIDS Day, a time for us to honour those we have lost to an AIDS-related illness. It’s also a time for us to stand in solidarity with... people living with HIV today, and raise awareness on tackling HIV stigma and preventing new HIV transmissions. World AIDS Day also provides us with an important opportunity to reflect on how far we have come. Since the early years of the epidemic, we have made remarkable progress in the fight against HIV. Recent data shows that HIV diagnoses continue to decline overall, HIV testing rates remain high, and more people living with HIV are on treatment than ever before. We are heading in the right direction but we still have a long way to go. Because despite advances in testing and treatment, some attitudes haven’t changed. Stigma can have profound impacts on people living with HIV and can prevent those at risk from getting tested and accessing the support they need. Stigma affects all of us. In order to truly end HIV transmissions, we must eliminate HIV-related stigma. How ever you are marking World AIDS Day, whether it’s at home, at a virtual event, by donning a red ribbon and supporting ACON’s Red Ribbon Appeal, thank you for being part of the movement. Your involvement will helping raise awareness and shine a light on efforts in HIV prevention, education, care and support. Thank you for making a difference. 06.01.2022 It is AGM season today and the Pride History Group was no exception Welcome to our new members and thank you to the outgoing 2020 committee. We were pleased to have Michael Mullins (secretary) and Dan Rogers (general) join the Committee for 2021 along with returning committee members. We also enjoyed hearing great LGBTIQ+ history presentations from Vice President, Dr Scott McKinnon about 'Lobbying for Law Reform' in NSW and from Life Member, John Witte about 'Policing Love and Sex' in Regional NSW. John spoke about the critical importance of regional histories which are often overlooked but are so important to a representative and full history of our communities.
