20.01.2022 Nutrien Ag Solutions is committed to helping impacted farming families get back on their feet. With drought conditions still affecting much of the country, the ...recent bush fires have added further hardship for many of our regional communities already doing it tough. In response, Nutrien Ag Solutions has teamed up with BlazeAid; a not for profit organisation that works with families and individuals in rural Australia after natural disasters. Nutrien Ag Solutions will donate $100,000 and match any employee donations made to the fire recovery effort up to the value of $5,000 and approve 40 hours paid leave for team members who volunteer to assist BlazeAid. The most significant contribution our business can make is to support clients and staff through the time it will take to recover. Whether its bushfire, drought, floods or economic hardship, Nutrien Ag Solutions recognises its role in keeping our rural and regional communities flourishing. See more

03.01.2022 NEW BARLEY DISEASE DETECTED IN WA A new, potentially destructive barley disease has been discovered in Western Australia for the first time. Ramularia leaf spo...t (RLS) was detected in three samples taken from volunteer barley at Gibson, Munglinup and South Stirlings in 2018. Department of Primary Industries plant pathologist Kith Jayasena said the disease had the potential to reduce yields by up to 40 per cent. Dr Jayasena said the department would spend significant time throughout 2019 teaching farmers how to identify and treat the disease. Detection of the disease in crops is unlikely to be possible before flowering in the 2019 season, he said. Symptoms of the disease include small brown rectangular lesions within leaf veins. The lesions are visible on both sides of the leaf and generally become evident after flowering. Identification of the disease can be difficult as lesions can be confused with other causes such as physiological leaf spotting and boron toxicity or other fungal leaf spotting diseases such as spot type net blotch and spot blotch, Dr Jayasena said. Infected seeds are the main source of long distance disease spread and introduction to new areas. More localised disease spread is from airborne spores coming from infected barley and grasses.
