19.01.2022 Our focus on every day sustainability encourages awareness and respect for nature and the world around us. Our regular and intentional projects and discussions create moments where we can introduce themes and experiences that support our mission to care for the environment while supporting children’s commitment to environmental responsibility. We regularly teach by showing and use these opportunities to explain why care for the environment is so important.. SO we were deli...ghted when the children started discussing the Climate Action March and even more excited when we heard several of them were planning to join the protest last week. In preparation, the children spent time creating their big sign and have made fliers and posters to hang around the centre spreading awareness about environmental practices. Austin was keen to share his experience with us Today I went to my very first protest march. Firstly we started to march, there were some chants like WHAT DO WE WANT?! CLIMATE ACTION! and WHEN DO WE WANT IT?! NOW!. After that we heard some songs and a lot of speeches it was time to go marching again. When we were marching we had loads of pictures and videos and we even got on tv and a podcast which was so awesome! Austin 3E

18.01.2022 Great news! Yesterday the Government announced an Early Childhood Education and Care Relief Package to help families and care providers through the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This is fantastic news for us and for our families that need us the most. [Yesterday's] announcement goes a long way to ensuring we can continue to provide these services to the families who rely on us, and together with the JobKeeper payment will enable us to support our childcare workers through this difficult time. said Sinead Ryan, a spokesperson for the OSHC providers. 11.01.2022 School aged children all over Australia are pleading with government to get serious about the environment and national sustainable practices. At Baulkham Hills we are actively supporting the notion of reducing, reusing and recycling. Guided by the national quality framework, our sustainability project has helped us learn about meeting our current needs without infringing on the ability of future generations to meet their needs. We have been learning about the idea of indivi...dual responsibility for our choices and to do what we can, where we can. Once again, the POSHC team’s generosity has been phenomenal and this week we got to meet the WAGEC crew and deliver the donations. They were delighted and grateful. 06.01.2022 Wear it Purple celebrations have again been a focus this term, with centres supporting and celebrating inclusion and diversity. At Canterbury South, we came together to raise awareness and advocate for rainbow young people in our community. To grab everyone’s attention, the children dressed up the centre, made purple cupcakes, showed off purple nails and listened closely as one of our parents generously shared stories and ideas around the diverse nature of family life in Australia today. To successfully advocate for the children in our care - we build respectful and nurturing relationships that support families in their parenting role. We welcome every opportunity to collaborate with families, supporting the expertise, culture, values and beliefs that are the foundations of children’s wellbeing.
