14.01.2022 Breaking! - The N.W.P.S.S.A. Athletics Carnival scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled. Details below. NWPSSA Twilight Carnival Cancellation With much sadness we wish to advise schools, parents and competitors that due to the recent developments with coronavirus and the prevention measures that are been taken with social distancing the decision has been made that the North West Primary Schools Sports Association Twilight Athletic Carnival scheduled for this Tuesday afternoo...n has been cancelled. Due to the large number of competitors and spectators the best and safest option is to unfortunately cancel this event. We understand that there will be many disappointed athletes and parents but the protection of students and those vulnerable members of our community is a priority at this time. At this stage no decision has been made about the State Athletics Carnival scheduled for Friday 8 May. We are awaiting further updates from Primary School Sport Tasmania.

08.01.2022 The LSSSA are thrilled to confirm that the 5/6 sports roster will recommence for schools starting TODAY. We have been working closely with the DoE Sports Coord...inator to ensure that we meet the requirements and have consistent procedures across all schools. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic and the current public health restrictions in place, schools and school sports teams competing in this roster will be required to adhere to a number of physical distancing and hygiene protocols. Sick or Injured students Students that are feeling unwell or have any cold and flu like symptoms MUST not (this needs to be big too) attend school and will not allowed to participate in 5/6 sport. Any travelling school students that are injured leading up to Friday afternoon sport will not be able to attend sport and will be required to stay at their school. Hygiene and Cleaning procedures Staff and students will be required to clean hands before, after and at regular intervals during sport. Any equipment used will be required to be sanitized and sports clothing and bibs washed before and after use. Where possible social distancing measures will be adhered to and participants will be asked not to engage in unnecessary physical contact. Spectators Unfortunately until further notice spectators will NOT be able to attend any of the games/venues. Uniforms If teams are travelling to another venue, where possible students must be changed into appropriate sports uniforms before arrival. Students must bring their own clearly named drink bottles. School drink stations and fountains will not be available for use. Transport Students attending 5/6 sport must travel to and from the venue on the bus with their school. The LSSSA use Facebook as a way to communicate with our schools, parents and community. For updates, cancellations and the latest information please like our page: Launceston State Schools Sports Association LSSSA. We greatly appreciate your ongoing support.
07.01.2022 We are very excited and looking forward to our first major event since the re-start of sport tomorrow. Nearly 100 talented girls will be competing in the AFLW Gala Day at Invermay Park. We may get the odd shower, but we won't let them get in the way of a fantastic day. Parents attending are reminded that they must follow the sign-in procedures and the 1.5m rule. Sick children and adults must not enter the venue. This event is only possible through a strong partnership with AFL Tasmania. We thank them for their wonderful work and support.

05.01.2022 Hi all, As you may already have been aware, we received an email from the Minister of Education and Training last night which clearly stated that as a precautio...nary measure to reduce exposure of the COVID 19 we need to adopt social distancing measures which included cancellation of sporting carnivals and excursions. It is important that we follow this to protect ourselves, our students and the wider community. While the risk of exposure remains low, it is important that there are measures in place to further reduce any potential transfer. With much disappointment 5/6 sport will be cancelled for the remainder of Term 1, along with the cancellation of the LSSSA Athletics Carnival. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the many sporting organisations and volunteers who have supported the LSSSA with providing sporting opportunities for our students. Your time, organisation and delivery of these programs has been very much appreciated. We look forward to continuing to build our relationships in the near future. Again thank you and our sincere apologies for any inconvenience.
