24.01.2022 Becoming an epidemic in my experience. Kids are so hard on themselves. This may help:

24.01.2022 Watch this. Makes some great points. I read this guys book. He makes a lot of sense.

24.01.2022 Show this to your kids, and set the example.

23.01.2022 A message I try to convey to my students all the time- the life lessons behind sport are whats important. The sport itself is just a vehicle.

23.01.2022 As a father and teacher I will be reading this book.

23.01.2022 Prep a space for your kids to do their best next term. Let them co-design and personalize it. #teacherlife #teachthistoyourkids #homelearning

21.01.2022 Be disciplined to set the table and get the family together. Talk about your day. My family goes around the table and each person tells of their favorite part of the day, the worst part of their day, and what they are grateful for. Sharing a meal and sitting face to face with your family is priceless.

21.01.2022 How good is this. If your school doesn't have the environment or the philosophy to educate like this, then you as a parent can create it yourself at home. Less screen-time, more green-time.

18.01.2022 Amen. With winter team sports upon us, I hope everyone stocks up on the chill-pills. Enjoy the adventure of watching your kids PLAY, and let them experience the life lessons they learn through sport. You had your turn, now let your kids enjoy theirs.

18.01.2022 I agree with this article. There can be many scoreboards in any game, not just the one up in lights. The power of statistics and team goals to measure improvement and effort are invaluable. The same could be said about students and test/project/assignment scores.

16.01.2022 Teachers: leaders of people. Give your students the 'why' behind what you do. In the classroom.

15.01.2022 Play the game. Learn through the game. Coach through the game. Less drills and more thrills at training. Skills are important, but teach them in the context of the game. Inspire kids to come back next week. An inspiring article for coaches, particularly parents who, by default, end up being the coach of their kid's team.

15.01.2022 Hey teachers- maybe less of the clown suits, fireworks and 3D visuals. Worksheets and good old class discussions are looking good right now.

14.01.2022 At our school students are offered a mix of competitive and non-competitive sporting pursuits, as we agree with this article, that competition is not for everyone. If happiness and health are the ultimate goal, then students need to find the right balance of what interests them. Exercise and social skills CAN be obtained by playing informal games.

14.01.2022 Looks good people. Sport can be a great context and metaphor for teaching life lessons.

14.01.2022 Some phrases, when used repeatedly, can change the mindset of students, and the culture of your classroom. What are the values and qualities you would like to see demonstrated by your children/students?

13.01.2022 I say the exact same thing to my students on sports carnival days when they tell me they are nervous.

13.01.2022 Encourage curiosity.

12.01.2022 Remember spinning until you were dizzy, then trying not to fall over? It was fun, right? This article reminds us of the importance of movement on brain development. Unfortunately I see many children with poor balance. Every school should have a nature play area with different surfaces (a mix of flat and bumpy/uneven). This article has inspired me to incorporate a lot more activities in my lessons where kids are on the ground, in different positions and moving in different ways to develop their vestibular and proprioception senses.

11.01.2022 Yep, it's what we're up against.

10.01.2022 This image says it all. Lets work together and do better!

10.01.2022 I call it egogram. There are some things we just don't need to see, and people don't need to show.

10.01.2022 A long article but worth reading. Even if the pressure of downward academic learning is forced upon us, ask yourself "how can I incorporate more play in my teaching/parenting?"

08.01.2022 Always love these pics. Each one is a slap in the face. A reminder if what is most important.

07.01.2022 Let kids do chores and their own homework. Support teachers more than you question them. Help the coach as he/she helps your kids enjoy the game.

06.01.2022 Physical health, mental health and life skills. Would like to see a PE specialist in every primary school, and give that person the time and resources needed to do the job comprehensively, not just provide release time for class teachers.

04.01.2022 Perhaps the best description of anxiety I have read - great for students, teachers and parents. I reckon there is a whole term's health program in this one article.

04.01.2022 Class sizes? Please. If you were in hospital, would you rather more or less nurses? Or a city with fewer police or more police? Students have individual needs and teachers are limited with how much they can reach each child when there are so many in a class. Think of your child - would you like them to get more attention or less attention from their teacher? That's what it boils down to. Like I always say - more police, more nurses, more teachers. We want our kids to be safe, healthy and educated.

04.01.2022 The importance of play.

03.01.2022 We see examples of this everyday. Let them fail, let them feel uncomfortable, let them get in trouble from the teacher. That is tough love. That is GOOD parenting.

02.01.2022 Hard to get info from your kids after school, isn't it? Try these...

02.01.2022 Some good strategies here. Try them.

01.01.2022 Wow! I am hoping the pendulum will swing back and the teaching profession will get the respect it deserves.

01.01.2022 Yep. Less is more. An attitude I have adopted in my teaching this year. Stop cramming too much into every day. Leave space for the good stuff to fill the spaces you create.
