20.01.2022 GOOD FORM A full squat & a half squat, is the difference between a bubble butt & a back with a crack - a very funny trainer said this to me once. Here’s my pointers... ... Burpee - chest to the ground, hands touch at the top, feet leave the ground in the jump Squat - think, hips below your knees & chest up! You’re not getting any lower just because your chest is bowing down Push-up - arms are a right angle, head/neck in front of your hands, shoulders over wrists Plank - heels in front of toes, shoulders/elbows in line, hips down I used to have a client who never dropped her depth, quality, or form in any exercise... no matter how long it took her. There were even times when I’d see participants WHOOP HER ASS with a half squat (just to beat her )... But at the end of the day, her muscle mass & endurance was worth every epic up-hill skater! 18.01.2022 VOTE FOR SAMMY, yay! On Saturday night, with a glass of wine in one hand & a cigarette in the other, I registered for World Gym Australia Ambassador. So many people suffer from DEPRESSION & ANXIETY, & so much of it is from not feeling like they’re good enough, OR worried about what other people think. ... My greatest assets, are my flaws. I have struggles, like everyone, & I refuse to pretend I don’t have them. Despite all of my shortcomings (my consumption of Nutella, my questionable parenting, my off-tap language etc etc), I still REALLY like myself... and once one personal issue is fixed, another will pop up & I’ll chip away at that I think the world needs more people who are honest, not more people pretending to have their shit together to make the rest of us feel like failures. This status pushed me out of my comfort zone, but, I want people to be inspired by someone who is IN THE ARENA FIGHTING, not on the outside throwing stones I’ve made so many poor decisions, but, I love that I still push on like a BOSS - Run 200km (last month over 4 days) - Won 3 state titles, IFBB fitness, 4th at Nationals - Run the NorthFace 100km race - Run the New York Marathon - Failed the Horny Half Marathon on Horn Island, literally was too buggered to finish - Eaten too much shit & never made comps many times - And am currently trying to pull my business back up from Covid So... follow this link, & vote. 17.01.2022 200km RUN DONE This August I ran 200km (over 4 days) along the Aramac Sculpture Trail... Anyone could do it! I hardly know ANYTHING about long distance running, so, with some magnesium tablets (picked up from woolies the night before, that potentially constipated me), a set of Nike Zoom's ($90 on special), and Mike as my personal water boy, I ran 200km... ... As I said, anyone could do it, but no one WANTS to run 200km with no phone reception and if Ivan Mallat captured you... no-one would hear you scream. ha! My pace was so slow , and the only thing that kept me going was the potential likes on FB (just kidding)... I pushed on to get back in time to instruct a fitness class for a launch at work! And because I genuinely love exercise, a holiday for me was just this, camping & running all day. 17.01.2022 This week we did Leslie street Hill, HIIT & strength... oh, & coffee today’s workout below (to do at home ) With a partner, complete the combined total number of reps 100 chest-to-ground burpees... 100 squat thrusters 100 military pushups 100 squat jumps 100 plank jacks 100 donkey kicks (jumping) 16 x 100mt sprints We did this in around 40 minutes.

11.01.2022 FASTING. SHOULD YOU STARVE YOURSELF? 2 years ago I fasted regularly from 9pm-12pm the next day, for 1yr. Theres so much research for and against fasting, so I thought I’d share my findings... Did I lose weight? ... Yes. Did I gain muscle (as it’s proven to increase HGH)? Yes... I already look like I’m ready to ‘punch-on’ at the best of times , so I hated the muscle gains. But, most people would love it. It’s become a big movement in the bodybuilding world Did it decrease sugar cravings? Yes, a lot... this coming from a ‘Cadbury-block-a-day’ kinda gal. Was I more focused & have more energy? Definitely. When I eat breakfast, I almost instantly start to feel tired. so, happy to skip it... pretty sure cereal companies developed both the epic food pyramid AND the notion of ‘needing breakfast’. Did I eventually go back to eating regularly? Yes. Only because often we revert back to our old ways, for whatever reason... but recently I’ve gone back to fasting, & for myself, I do like it. We’re fed a lot of information regarding diets, I am not for or against any, I say do whatever works for you But I do believe we weren’t made to eat regularly. It’s not as though, in cave man days, they could just graze on a dead goat over a few days... they would’ve had a big meal every 3 days if they were lucky. Although I give my kids rice bubbles every morning, I’m not sure that’s helping them at all? Some weird rice puffs covered in milk from another animals tit? But, I do it... cause I’m a working mum who knows it’s a good day if The neighbours cat doesn’t piss in my house Have a great Tuesday. Sammy & Lauren

Don’t overthink it, don’t wait til Monday, don’t wait until the moons align, or until that wedding in September is done... just DO IT #nike Put on your runners & just go. You’re a better human, you’re a better mum AND you’re better at life when you exercise! So make it a priority. Everything else can wait... because when you get to it, you’ll do it better. 07.01.2022 10km/day & a push-up challenge RUOK As a part of the RUOK month of JULY I am running/walking 10km/day & doing a push-up challenge with World Gym Mackay to support the cause If I nominate you, it’s your job to do either a 10km jog (dooooo iiitttt), OR a push up challenge of your choice TODAY I NOMINATE LAUREN MATTHEWS ... Today I walked 5k with dad around Barcaldine Common, then I ran it. Jen & Tia trekked begins us in the quad with the dogs! I’m not sure drinking, taking shots, eating sugar & swallowing an egg was the best ‘mental health’ awareness challenge but exercise sure af is.

06.01.2022 WHEN DID YOU LAST DO A HANDSTAND? I notice, for some reason, we just stop doing handstands... like, it’s not the grown up thing to do anymore. But yet when I see adults do a simple forward roll, or even attempt a handstand THEY LITERALLY LIGHT UP like the thought of dying mid-cartwheel makes them forget all their daily stresses ... I googled the average age of living. Lots of different studies, but most were somewhere between 85-95. Let’s be optimistic & say 95... which means I have around 60 years left. I hear people resign to being old ALL THE TIME Which is fine, but words are powerful, & we are what we think. And even though getting older seems to mean stop having fun, be sad about life, & get savage joints I plan to get old by laughing too much, being very honest about my life & be less of an impatient prick... because wow, do I road rage. So, with another 60 years to go, I’ll continue to handstand, forward roll, dodgem car, whatever Have a great weekend, Sammy & Lauren

It doesn’t mean I don’t value you, usually I’m just stressed & ate too much cake ... I’m so grateful for my friends, I really expect nothing from them, & yet they continue to contribute to my life no end I try my best to be a good friend, but sometimes that means cancelling dinner dates with them, only to realise later how much they needed me... & then apologising profusely But I do like to think I bring some joy to their lives... even though I often deserve a passive-aggressive status done about me It’s very true that we are like the people we hang around... my friends seem to consist of strong, straight-shooting, go-getting, caring women! that I am proud to call my friends Who are your friends & why do you love them?
