24.01.2022 #myhomemystory . . This is Natal Grass or Purple-Top Grass as we call it. It’s a native #pest #grass that is currently growing in pockets along the gravel road to the bus stop. It is glorious to watch swaying in the breeze, especially of an afternoon when the sun is setting and the amber glow of a country sunset highlights it’s vibrant plum coloured seeds. .... . @annabellehickson once told me to always carry a bucket and pair of secateurs in the back of the car for when nature’s palette strikes... 24.01.2022 Welcome to the Tribe G’day g’day Instagram team! Primrose here, namesake of @primrose_interiors. This is my wildly, wonderful crew. Never a dull moment with this lot! We live on my husband’s family beef cattle property in Western QLD. I run my Interior Decorating business from here; in between the mothering, wifing, earthmoving, office working, feedlotting, mustering...gardening?...moments of my (typical) day.... I have an insatiable appetite to learn new things and I’m terribly inquisitive. I find it hard to sit still, (yet I often find myself complaining that I never get to sit still ) and pumping 3 kids out in as many years is most definitely the reason I’m still sitting here at Drillham and not living in a teepee, deep in the depths of some Mongolian mountainside right now #ofcoursemyhusbandalso! #herecomesthebackyardyurt My motto has always been Your Home is Your Story. I believe that every home should cater to - and truly cater to - those who live there. Their story, their style! The power of psychology behind the smallest of items triggering fond memories, of vibrant or soothing colours, of placement of furniture in ones home, all have such a direct emotional impact (often subconsciously) on the way we live day to day. It’s a passion of mine to bring the importance of embracing your individual style (complete with all its quirkiness!) to the team of peeps who believe in this power too but just need help creating it . 23.01.2022 || TIP || Gallery Walls work well when the collection MEANS something to you. Hanging a bought-online-10-piece-pack will look...well, just like that! Too instant & soul-less perhaps? . . And don’t think you have to spend a lot of money. Sometimes all it takes is a couple of $2 frames and ripping your favourite scapes out of some magazines, a cool poster you saw online, an old muso fan club one from high school days, a small vintage find from Vinnies, that lovely watercolour... that was a wedding gift. Hell, one of nanna’s antique plates even! You and your story are the common denominator here, and that is enough to make it work . @streetfleastyle oozes some fabulous homely vibes throughout her collected home

23.01.2022 || SUNDAY SCHOOL || RUGS. Living room rugs. Hallway rugs. Round rugs or square rugs. Woven wool or PolyPrep. Natural Sisal or Antique Persians...? The list goes on! I find that Rug Commitment Phobia is as strong as the Marriage Commitment Phobia for some people. (Or Dry July Phobia for me)... So is it the financial investment that is unsettling (no point buying crappy rugs peeps, no point!) or the fact some feel that it could go REALLY wrong in the room and waddaya do...it’s paid, unrolled and been walked on. Well I’m here to help! 17.01.2022 TIP// Console Styling Proportions . . Here is a Sunday project for those who feel the need to restyle, or try! styling their feature piece of furniture. ~... Step 1: Go and have a look at your #halltable #console #sideboard or #buffet. What SHAPE do you see it forming? Is it a long and lengthy rectangle or a more squat, higher, square shape?. ~ Step 2: What do you have sitting above it on the wall? Perhaps you are planning on investing in something or have a treasure at home that could work brilliantly?. ~ Step 3: Swipe through these examples and see if any are a match to your concept. For a ‘story’ to work aesthetically (using colour or only neutrals), it’s all about assessing the proportions of what you’ve got to work with, your BASE, then LAYER with precision from there . . . For eg: Do you have 2 really tall lamps that look a bit weird alone on a console? No.1 uses this height to its advantage and hangs ‘tall’ art, layering either side to keep the eye travelling UP... . . No.2 only has a small art piece, but it’s been beautifully balanced by playing with the placement of the decor heights. See how your eye wanders naturally right in to the central point of the scheme? They’ve cleverly controlled the viewing of negative space (the blank wall either side) to become obsolete by directing your eye exactly where they want it to go using the ‘invisible lines’ the styled decor creates . (I do love me some earthy @mcgeeandco ) . . So off you go now and play! 17.01.2022 Own a rather ugly couch but can’t part with it because A) budget B) it’s super comfortable and/or C) it’s functional and practical for life right now??. . . Try jumping on Etsy.com and look up linen fabric importers and grab yourself a bargain! It’s also not a bad idea to look at (tightly woven) linen fabrics with a blend of cotton/rayon/viscose if you’re a #stressless type of gal. There is such a wide selection available on line in a range of natural, dyed or classically str...iped options and all at affordable prices (think $25-$45 p/m). . . So throw a throw and add some cushions for texture or colour and voila!! From a rather small investment, you’ve just made a rather large impact . . . . . @cole_and_son_wallpapers is ticking all the right boxes here with their wallpaper clash of ‘Jasmin & Serin Symphony ’, the geometric tiled ‘Alicatado ’, the plastered blush walls and linen throw sofa ! 16.01.2022 || FRIDAY FEELS || Grateful. Lucky. Blessed. Sad. Emotional! Not at all Interior related. But I want to share anyhow...... Today was a lovely but emotional day. A very talented group of rural women & the local Suncorp Bank branch, Steph Logan in the lead, organised a beautiful fundraising ‘High Tea’ in our town to raise money for a Breast Cancer ultrasound unit. This terribly expensive unit is state of the art & the team at the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation and St.Andrews Hospital will use it on the road out west to make sure country women near & far - very far- have the opportunity to get checked yearly & support (all! family members) if need be. The guest speakers were incredibly stoic & inspiring with their stories of survival. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as every mother, grandmother, aunty, sister & niece was thinking the same thing I’m sure - what a shit thing cancer is & how lucky we are to be sitting here right now. . After the amazing group of ladies raised an INSANE amount of money to put towards the new medical unit, I sped home to surround myself with my 3 little munchkins praying I’d have a whole lifetime with them & that my wonderful husband would never have to help me go thru the dreadful process of chemo & beyond . 15.01.2022 #arabellarosesbedroom . . I’m not much of a ‘schemer’. I tend to fly by the seat of my pants a bit and sometimes in the design industry I am told that is NOT a good thing So here is me this morning, trying to practise scheming in a very, very simple way. Perhaps you can join me on this journey and scheme a concept up in your own home? If so, a few pointers below:- .... . Step 1: How do you imagine the space to look overall? Is there a particular base colour or what Vibe do you want it to evoke? For some reason I have only ever envisioned this (currently green) room in a Dusty/Dirty pink for Arabella. So, I have initially chosen the #porterspaints colour Seashell to be my base. . . Step 2: Look for some inspo photos that resonate with your vision. Whilst researching for this segment I have now decided that I am going to plaster the entire exterior of my house and paint it pink, terrazzo every kitchen and bathroom wall and have really, REALLY moody colour ways throughout the interior. Focal point being Daughter’s bedroom you say? ...totally forgotten at this point... . . Step 3: What existing decor do you have to help start the process of bringing it all together? I had purchased (extremely quickly with zero thought to the matter) a colourful quilt and chequered sheet set for her on a Kip&Co Christmas sale last year. And 2 months later I still like it...That will do me for now to pull colours from . . . Step 4: Go get paint samples or brush out cards. Try them on the walls in different lights at different times of the day. I THINK I am going to paint a mural too so I’ll be choosing some block colours to play against the pink... deep greens and tumeric yellows I reckon... but you know, that could change by tonight #godhelpme. . . So there you have it. My incredibly clever mind hard at work... If you are also clever, you would realise that I should have written step 3 first, then step 2, then step 1 and finished with step 4. But like I said at the beginning... I like to fly by the seat of my pants and clearly keep you on your toes . . . . . 11.01.2022 Work In Progress Snapped this shot whilst walking past of one of my current client’s once-blank nook space this week during install visits. Whilst it’s not intended for the Gram folder (#crappyiphonepicsaremyjam) it’s still a pretty progress shot compared to the blank canvas we started with! I designed this huge artwork with Australian artist @joanblond specifically for this room after my client’s agreed to go with custom sage green sofas, leather sitting chairs and a m...onster Indian door as the central coffee table. It journey downs the creeks and lay of the land, celebrating (in a playful way ) the flora and fauna of native Australia. Joan does this so well in her work!! The geo timber sideboard houses the family board games and thatched leather accent chairs belong to the large dining table next door. I wanted the nook to come ‘alive’ and the layering of natural sea grass over the blank white walls has definitely helped in achieving this more 3 dimensional look. 09.01.2022 A little Before & After vignette for your Thursday evening Had a fabulous day ‘shooshing’ up some fabulous client’s entertaining and dining room today. We’ve brought serious life and energy to the house now and feel we’re on the home straight once we can line up the electricians and painting contractors! I sourced these gorgeous heavy brass urns from @thibaultanddonaldson in Toowoomba and my girl @bellebouquets designed the floral arrangement (which I spent about 2 hours pu...tting together fretting I would fail in making her proud ). The painting, silverware and sideboard are family heirlooms and it’s all framed by a pair of black marble Art Deco pillars I scored at an estate auction last year. Once the brass gallery lighting is installed above the painting and cast it’s golden glow, it really will be a super cool finish to the once-blank-end corner of the dining room! #yourhomeyourstory #countrtclients #countryhomes #australianhomes

A fun project that had me searching for the ‘unconventional black and white’ patterned fabric that would allow my clients to place (either piece) anywhere around their home AND handle the daily smears of dusty and dirty work jeans . . .... 03.01.2022 I love everything about my Grandmother’s Heritage listed home in Brisbane, QLD. The gardens, the lawns, the architecture and the interior. So many memories - travelling for our yearly visit from home out west to being our escape haven from boarding school throughout our teenage years. Clayfield is such a beautiful (and now exclusive) Brisbane suburb. From its original farmland days, the area has grown from a few large historic houses perched high on the hill tops, like this one, to being the burb where one...that’s me...takes Sunday morning touring drives, coffee in hand, windows down, music on and constantly just goggling at the divine architectural, historic homes and gardens #90yrsyoung #stilllivesathomealone #wouldntyou!

01.01.2022 Australia Day So what did my fellow Aussies get up to over this always-wonderfully-hot long weekend?. . Apart from spending most of my time (whilst camping down at the local watering hole) dragging kids in and out of the water to reapply sunscreen and to reiterate the importance of leaving their dang life jackets on, splitting up ‘who gets to hold the chip packet’ fights, hissing in my loudest/quietest night time voice that if they don’t lie down and go to sleep in their ...tent we won’t be camping ever again...only to repeat every word of that same sentence at 4.15am the next morning...Negotiating a trio of arguments about who got the last remnants of the FruitLoop box (husband included in this one ) and to scream constantly WHERE IS YOUR HAT?!!! ... we had a FABULOUS time drinking cold beer, eating friend’s home grown pig-on-the-spit, wakesurfing, skiiing, tanning and a general merry time out with friends and family #strayamate #campingwithkids. . . . 01.01.2022 It’s been a tragic and tough time out at home this week with the loss of very dear friend. Whilst dealing with grief, I have been looking around my own home for the little things that bring me some joy. What is your ‘Joie De Vivre’? Is it placed in a strategic location so that you see it every morning? I think our little Jack Russell Terrier is currently mine...Dolly is completely oblivious to what goes on around her and is forever high on life...& licking @amandalouiseinteriors is a designer I have followed for quite some time now. Her quirky aesthetics and playful colour use is so fabulous and she nails the ‘happy interior’ vibe every time
