21.01.2022 It has been hard to narrow down the activities that the children have instigated either by direct request or by just observing their play preferences. Here is a small selection. Please share our posts to let the wider community know about this fabulous play space

21.01.2022 Hi everyone, we have had such a fantastic year with enrolments - we were nearly full every day! 21.01.2022 Introducing the newest member of the PoP Kindy team. Already she has formed great bonds with the new children and is a great support to Laurie in transitioning them into Kindy. Hi I'm Affrica Johnson. I have been working with children for 5 years in various roles across Childcare at my church. I have completed my Certificate III in Early childhood Education and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology). I am passionate about children having a quality education, growing in a supportive encouraging environment and creating meaningful bonds with teachers and their peers. I look forward to getting to know you and your child and being a part of their time here at Prince of Peace Kindy.

20.01.2022 Miss Sim has joined our regular casual staff and has already proved an enthusiastic and professional worker. Please continue to make her feel welcome.

18.01.2022 What a great effort of Compassion. Many thanks to the McKinnon family for supporting Naza.

18.01.2022 Sad but happy news. Our fabulous, all available, all professional Leah is leaving us as she has now secured her first teaching position. Today we presented her with a gift basket to send her on her way. It goes without saying that she will be sorely missed. We wish her all the best and Gods blessings for the future.

16.01.2022 Kindy has started at Prince of Peace and this year we have decided to up our Media presence to make our Kindy more visible in the community. To start we will introduce the staff then on to our environment and follow with regular updates on activities and achievements. We welcome all comments and ideas on how we can improve. Here's to a great 2020. Hi my name is Lyn Jackson (Service Leader and Early Childhood Teacher) and I began at Prince of Peace Kindergarten at the begi...nning of 2014. I came from nine years as Service Leader/Teacher at St Johns Lutheran Kindergarten in Kingaroy. My passion is for Early Years Education and in creating a centre where children can play in a natural environment and learn socially, emotionally and spiritually as well as in academic areas. It is my great privilege to be able to teach your children in their first year of formal education and am happy to talk to you at any time about your childs development and progress. I appreciate your input into the kindy program and look forward to getting to know you and your family. My interests include gardening, writing and travel. I am married to Bill and have three children and 8 grandchildren. See more

14.01.2022 Learning to count in the natural way. Pieces of bark make for great money. Vacancies available at our Nature based Kindy. All inquiries welcome.

14.01.2022 Introducing our Lead Educator. Laurie opens every morning where she is welcoming children to their Kindy day. She sets up play environments and keeps us up to date with current theorists that she discovers in her study and reading. My name is Laurie Nash and I am the Lead Educator at POP Kindy. I have worked as an educator in OSHC for 7 years and in Early Childhood education for 5 years. I hold a Diploma in Childrens Services and am currently studying my Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. I have a strong interest in helping children to develop social and emotional confidence in a fun, creative learning environment. In my spare time I am an avid reader and love a good coffee with friends

12.01.2022 As promised we will be introducing each staff member over the next couple of weeks. Nyree Smith is Assistant Service Leader taking leadership of enrolments, accounts and other administration tasks. She is also our second Teacher who is enthusiastic and very capable. 'I have worked as a kindergarten teacher for the past seven years. During this time, I have found that the education and care of young children is not only a demanding job, but also a rewarding one. It allows... for a spontaneity and responsive planning technique as well as strong relationships with children and families. Unlike the primary school curriculum, the QKLG allows for children to lead the curriculum based on their interest which means that with every group of children, the curriculum changes and planning experiences always requires creative thinking. I have a strong interest in literacy through play based learning, and thinking and problem solving strategies. I believe that children learn holistically when given the opportunity to playwork.' 11.01.2022 Friday night dinner ready at retreat. Surf Air Marcoola. Theme was Hawaiian. Great fun. Great to get with other QLECS staff and leaders.

11.01.2022 So glad we could have some folk from Moonah Park Aged Care centre visit with us today. The children's first question was "How old are you?" and they were quite amazed for find that some were into their 90's. We enjoyed singing, reading a story and showing them how we use playdough, geoboards and Hammering boards. A great time was had by all and we are going to try to make this a monthly occasion. Many thanks to Crystal and the other staff for making this happen.

10.01.2022 This year one of our aims was to work on becoming a more language enriched Kindy by initiating and extending conversations with children at all times during the day. Today as I was in the kitchen preparing my lunch I noticed that at each table an educator was sitting and conversing with the children about their food and other activities that they had been involved in. This is one way that we can increase children's vocab and language. At the beginning of each year I try to pick a whole staff goal which will not only help us learn new skill but will also enrich the children's lives. This was a proud director moment!!!!

10.01.2022 This Friday we will farewell Bridget who has been with PoP Kindy for 3 years and who has shown great dedication and care for the Kindy, the children and their families. Bridget is currently studying and is looking for work in her area of study. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.

10.01.2022 There are some great resources on this page for you to help transition your child to prep. Check it out. https://www.earlyyearscount.earlychildhood.qld.gov.au//ha/

09.01.2022 We loved our Pirate Day last week. Hunting for treasure and counting it up, reading funny pirate stories and singing songs in a pirate voice. My voice was much lower at the end of the day.

09.01.2022 It is nice to be recognised as Educators in the EC sector but even more so in the wider community. We at POP Kindy would love to hear how you think your child has benefitted from their time at Kindy

09.01.2022 We often have first time visitors to our extended hours kindy comment on our extremely natural playground. Sometimes it is messy and muddy but we try not to let that stop us from playing: Jumping in puddles, filling buckets from the dripping shade cloths, and making sandcastles from the wet sand. All in a days work !!!

07.01.2022 Afternoon tea tomorrow Tues 19th June to meet the New PoP Pastor Kevin Spilsbury. It will be at 2.15pm and all are welcome even if it is not your day. Please bring a plate of food to share.

07.01.2022 Last minute activity to celebrate learning around hardware shops in our community.

06.01.2022 Next week is reconciliation week, Any ideas on how we could celebrate this day with the children. https://www.reconciliation.org.au//04/final-web-a3-poster.

05.01.2022 So everyone we are on Story Park. this is a great way to keep you informed. You will be sent a link on email which will get you started. Because of this we will be sending as many udates as we can manage to get up to speed with it before the start of 2019 when our new cohort starts. We will be putting the daily photos on Story Park too which will save paper and printing. Keep the comments coming in.

03.01.2022 https://www.brisbanekids.com.au//2018-emergency-services-/ FYI This is usually a great event

02.01.2022 Don't forget book week parade this coming Wednesday 22nd. The theme this year is 'Find your treasure' The school has the parade at 8.30 on the school oval and all parents are welcome to attend. Children are asked to dress as a book character. (any costume however is acceptable)

02.01.2022 Kindy is up and running for 2019. Next week sees the start of the formal program and everyone will have started. Wishing last years cohort a great start to prep.

02.01.2022 Kindy cafe is proving to have a latent benefit. While the children are able to have more flexibility around eating times they are also getting to know each other. The groups are sometimes friendship groups, but can also see them mix in a natural way with other peers.

01.01.2022 Thanks so much to Miss Kate (Bird) for filling in for Miss Lyn & Nyree this week.
