23.01.2022 STATIC ELECTRIC EXPERIMENTS WITH BALLON: Yesterday the Kindergarten 2 children participated in doing the Static Electric Experiments with the balloon. First, the children tried it on their hair. They rubbed the balloon on their friends hair, and they watch how the hair was standing up when they place the balloon on top of their friends head. During this experiment, the children noticed it only worked for some types of hair. They also did another test with paper. They rubed the balloon with the woolen sock and tried to catch the small pieces of paper on the balloons. The children had so much fun learning how to make static electricity. #LoveLearning #QCCS

23.01.2022 Ahoy Me Hearties! Today our Kindergarten A & B children had so much fun. Firstly they came dressed as a pirate for Childhood Cancer Supports Talk Like a Pirate Day, and they looked like a fine bunch of swashbuckling pirates indeed! After morning tea we headed outside to sit under the Bali Hut because Miss Michelle and Miss Sharmini thought they heard someone saying Arghhh in the bushes! When we looked up, we saw a golden coin on the pole and right beside it ...a very fancy scroll with some instructions! On the scroll a pirate had left for us, the instructions were to do 20 star jumps and say Arghhh every time we jumped! We had a lot of pirates doing a lot of noisy star jumps which was super funny. Next we found a gold coin and scroll in the mud kitchen too with more instructions. After this, we found another hiding on the old stage, and then the fort as well. Each time we had different instructions to do something piratey! We ended with a big long jump into the sandpit where we also found treasures when we dug deep into the sand. After walking the plank, we received a Young Pirate Bravery Certificate with a gold coin stamp! Weve had a super big morning enjoying Pirate Day! #childcare #treasurehunt #treasure #pirate #childcare #earlylearning #QCCS #brisbane

22.01.2022 SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS: SOUND This week the Kindergarten 2 children have been learning about Sound and Light. Today the children learn how to make sounds. They created their music box using the tissue box and the rubber bands, made shakers and drums with tin, water bottle and paper roll, they added pasta, rocks and seed pods to make the shakers also made music jars. After making all the instruments, the children made a big circle and tried out the musical instruments they created, sang a few songs and played the musical instrument which they made. #ScienceWeek #QCCS

21.01.2022 This morning our children continued with some tossing activities, this time using the larger beanbags. We all had a go at tossing our beanbag up towards the clouds and then focusing on it and catching it again! Some of us got the beanbag in our face and some of us lost them. Some of us closed our eyes to catch them, and some of us caught the wrong beanbag! We had a lot of giggles and fun while trying really hard with this challenge. #beanbag #physicalactivity #earlylearning #QCCS #childcare

20.01.2022 This morning our Kindergarten children continued to use the scooter boards for our coordination and strength building upon our gross motor and perceptual motor skills. With our strong arm and leg muscles, we played scoot the beanbag, pushing our bodies along while balancing a beanbag on our bodies and swapping them over in the tyres. Our children all did a super job as they listened to instructions, balanced their beanbags, and used their muscles and coordination skills. We finished off with the knotted rope on the beams and the womble walk holding our ankles! #grossmotorskills #physicalactivity #childcare #earlylearning #QCCS

18.01.2022 Today is UN Declaration on the rights of Indigenous People. As this is quite complex for our children to understand, we involved them in learning more about Indigenous culture. We first enjoyed the story Sorry Sorry which provoked conversations about our Indigenous people and how they have been very sad because of the tragic events that happened to their families a very long time ago with the arrival of the other people in Australia. Our children are very familiar with... this story and responded well to questions about the story. We also performed our Acknowledgement of Country to acknowledge and pay our respects to the Turrbal people of our land, and we enjoyed an Aboriginal symbol matching game during which time we discussed all the different symbols on the cards and what they mean. #aboriginalculture #aboriginal #indigenous #QCCS #childcarebrisbane #earlylearning

11.01.2022 ROCKET BALLOON: Today the children experimented to see how the rocket works using the balloon. During this experiment, the children learned as the air rushed out of the balloon when they let it go, and it created the forward motion. First, we tie one end of the string on the chair and put the other end through the straw and tied them up on another chair. Then we blow the balloon pinch the end of the balloon and tape the balloon to the straw when the children counted backwards from five, and they let the balloon go and watch the rocket fly. #LoveLearning #QCCS

11.01.2022 Our Pre kindy 2 children have been exploring the use of preposition words under and over. In our physical activity time we participated in a skipping rope activity. By following the instruction to either go over or go under we helped the children learn about under and over. In this activity the children stimulated their listening skills, spatial awareness and gross motor developmental exercises. #LoveLearning #QCCS

10.01.2022 In the yard today we had our amazing tube construction and connectors out on the mat. Our Kindergarten children flocked to this activity and began to use their amazing cognitive skills which involved problem solving, thinking, planning, investigating, exploring and discovering through play. The children challenged their creativity and constructed a range of interesting things which included a telescope, a telephone tube to talk to each other, a garden water system, a table leg, a drain to help move the water, a bed, a horse, and a machine that fixes cars and tyres. Some children worked alone and others worked together to finish their little projects! #earlylearning #QCCS #tubeconstruction

09.01.2022 Our Kindergarten children enjoyed some challenging gross motor and perceptual-motor activities this morning with the use of our scooter boards and a long rope. The children used problem-solving skills, spatial awareness, coordination, strength, and a few core muscles to move their bodies along the ground. Once in position and lying across two scooter boards, our children used the rope to pull themselves along until they reached the end. It was quite challenging but also fun, ...and they all did a super job and worked hard on their focus and determination. Following this, our children continued on their way using the knotted rope to pull themselves up the slides and onto the top of the ladders where they ambled along with hands and feet holding on tight. They finished off by moving across the second obstacle course and doing the womble walk (holding ankles and walking sideways) on the beam. It was a very busy morning! #PMP #QCCS

05.01.2022 This morning our Kindergarten children enjoyed some fun wheelbarrow races to challenge our coordination, strength, and team work! We used our scooter boards and pushed our friends along the ground with lots of giggles and laughter while using our strongest muscles! Everyone tried really hard with this activity which was quite a challenge as some wheelbarrows decided to go off in a different direction while others just broke down or rolled into the mats! We all had super fun nevertheless, and then continued on with our obstacle course. #earlylearning #strongmuscles #childcarebrisbane #obstaclecourse

04.01.2022 MAKING PAPER USING THE RECYCLED PAPER: The Kindergarten 2 children have been learning about the 3 Rs - how to reduce waste and how to create new things using recycled materials. Last week they made objects using the recycled materials. Today the children participated in making recycled paper. Today the Kindergarten children used the shredded paper to make new paper. The children took turns to help pour water onto the shredded paper and leave it for a short while to soak and then placed into the liquidizer to blend it. When it was ready, the children poured it out into another basin, used a cloth and squeezed the water out, placed it onto the flat tray and flattened it with their hands and a rolling pin.

04.01.2022 Loose Parts Play! Loose parts give children the freedom to arrange and rearrange, essentially using the loose parts to create their own designs. This allows the focus of the experience to be on the process rather than the product. Fine motor skills are developed and strengthened when children grasp and pick up small objects.

01.01.2022 Our Kindergarten A children have been very busy making machines as part of our interest and learning. Our September Show and Tell has been the topic of "Machines" with instructions to use recycled materials to make a machine at home with Mum and Dad, and bring it in to show our friends. Over the past few weeks we have had some very creative machines, some even working with moving parts. Weve had cranes, rockets, a washing machine, an oven, a laptop, a plane, a speaker ...system, a CT Scan, and a cement truck so far! Well done to our children for presenting their show and tells with pride and confidence over the past few weeks! #brisbane #childcare #earlylearning #recycledart #QCCS
