Makin Organs was founded in 1970 by Mr John Pilling. Mr John, as he was known, became involved in a successor company of the famous John Compton Organ Company which pioneered the building of electronic organs well before the second world war. In his teens, Mr John developed a life long passion in pipe organs and church music after having his first lesson on the newly installed Harrison & Harrison 3- manual pipe organ in his School's Chapel.
