24.01.2022 Student visa application fee waiver Department of Home Affairs will waive the visa application fee to allow you to lodge a further student visa application to complete your study. This will be available to students who held a student visa on or after 1 February 2020 and who couldnt complete their course within their original visa validity due to the impacts of COVID-19. This includes students who: - deferred their study as they were unable to enter Australia due to travel ...restrictions - were forced to reduce to a part-time study load - were unable to complete their work-based training and/or placements. This measure is not intended for students who are applying for a new student visa due to ordinary reasons (including if you have failed a course or a unit of study, deferred for personal reasons or voluntarily reduced your study load.) 23.01.2022 Migration Tasmania 20202021 Program Update for 190 visa and 491 visa Interim visa nomination allocations and priorities August - October 2020 What has changed?... The Department of Home Affairs has issued an interim allocation of subclass 491, 190, 188 and 132 visa nomination places to states and territories. These allocations will be updated after the 2020-21 Federal Budget is handed down in October. The Department of Home Affairs has directed that until this time, all nominations must be justifiable in relation to their likely contribution to Australias economic recovery, and follow three priorities: - High quality subclass 188 and 132 (Business Innovation and Investment Program) nomination applications. - Applicants critical to supporting Tasmanias response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including individuals providing critical or specialist medical services, critical skills required to maintain the supply of essential goods and services, or delivering services in sectors critical to Australias economic recovery. - Applicants currently in Australia who can demonstrate their capacity to meaningfully contribute to economic recovery. What does this mean for applicants? All new and existing nomination applications will be considered according to these priorities, with those in critical roles being nominated first. Existing applicants who are not in critical roles will be considered only after priority applications for critical roles have been processed. Decisions on non-critical role applications may not be available until October or later. Only those applicants with the most compelling claims will be nominated. Imminent visa expiry is not sufficient to give priority to an application. More important information can be found here: https://www.migration.tas.gov.au//2020-2021_program_year_u
