This is just one of the gems in this series. The two artists styles blend together so well and feature quirky, strange and fun contrasts of figures, animals, settings and objects. 24.01.2022 FACEBOOK & INSTAGRAM TAKEOVER WITH PAUL COMPTON Takeover Friday: 'There is so much going on this piece in regard to form, tone and familiarity. 23.01.2022 FACEBOOK & INSTAGRAM TAKEOVER WITH PAUL COMPTON Takeover Monday:... 'I love this magical piece. A close inspection reveals that the background is an inked and printed piece of fabric or netting in red, and then the shadow linocut in black is printed over the top. The interplay of figures, animals, leaves and branches create little narratives akin to a children's book. I can't help but love the figure patting the dog in the centre and the animal with human legs at the top.' @paulcomptonart Kati Thamo 'Shadow Play I' linocut, edition of 16 63 x 79cm @deeplyetched About Kati Thamo: Kati Thamo is a visual artist working predominantly as a printmaker. Largely driven by narrative, she draws on the real, the remembered and the imagined to create scenarios that suggest the unfolding of tales. Her images play with allusion and metaphor to reflect on the ambiguities and interactions of human/nature relations. Our project: Key figures in the Arts Industry takeover PG Gallery Instagram for one week. The Gallery directors have asked Artists, Curators, Gallerists and Writers to select artworks from the gallery stockroom to curate an online exhibition. More to be announced in the coming month.

21.01.2022 FACEBOOK & INSTAGRAM TAKEOVER WITH PAUL COMPTON Takeover Tuesday:... 'Greg Harrison is a mezzotint master and his pieces are all brilliant. This work reminds me of of my first trip to the zoo when I was a kid. I remember how odd the created environments of the enclosures were. Particularly the gorilla's playground. The decorative proscenium around the empty playground further evokes the feeling of artificially created, theatrical spaces.' @paulcomptonart 'Playground' Greg Harrison Mezzotint, Edition of 13 19 x 15cm @mrgregharrison About Greg Harrison: Greg Harrison was born and grew up in Newcastle NSW. He moved to the ACT to study drawing and printmaking under Petr Herel and Dianne Fogwell in the unique Graphic Investigation Workshop at the Canberra School of Art (ANU). It was during that time he learnt mezzotint engraving. He moved to Melbourne at the turn of the century to further his studies at the VCA. Since then Greg has practised printmaking and exhibited many times in Melbourne and nationwide. He is represented in the collections of regional galleries across Australia. He also regularly and enthusiastically participates in Rona Greens famous print exchanges. Greg has worked as a sessional lecturer at RMIT, Monash University and the VCA. He has also worked casually as a printmaking technician at both Monash University and the VCA. Recently Greg has started custom printing for artists in his home studio. Phil Day, Petr Herel, Paul Compton and Michael Leunig are some of the artists he has printed for. Greg continues to create his own figurative mezzotints and etchings at his press in Coburg.

18.01.2022 FACEBOOK & INSTAGRAM TAKEOVER WITH PAUL COMPTON Takeover Wednesday:... 'This piece really delights me. I love the contrast of the two types of dog, real and conjured, small and huge. Gwen Scott's reduction linocut technique is beautiful, delicate and perfectly represented in this piece. I am very fond of Jeff Koon's famous puppy sculpture so I love seeing it featured within another artwork. So clever given that Jeff Koon's often references other artists himself.' @paulcomptonart Gwen Scott 'Dog meets puppy Bilbao' Reduction linocut, edition of 12 30 x 23cm @gwenscottprintmaker About Gwen Scott: Gwen Scott lives on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia and works from her home studio producing original colour and black & white limited edition prints. Gwen works full-time as a printmaker and specialises in reduction linocuts. All her prints are hand cut and hand pulled by her and the finest 100% cotton rag paper, oil-based inks and quality linoleum are used. Gwen's iconography stems from her interests in classical mythology, the human form, animals, human lifecycle, surrealism, gardens & landscapes and the every-day. Gwen has held numerous solo exhibitions and regularly participates in group shows, print exchanges and competitions and has won awards for her reduction linocut prints. Her work is held in many public and private collections around Australia.
