21.01.2022 Our FIRST Christmas lunch (yes we have a few booked in the diary!). It’s lovely to have such great relationships with our insurance partners who do so much to help us help our clients. @ Red Spice Road

21.01.2022 Case Study - Insurer made a mistake. . We met with a new doctor who agreed to let us review their insurance cover. When we received the policy details from the insurer, we could see that the policy had a 50% loading on it. The client did not know why and had no known health issues. We investigated this with the insurer and discovered that the loading had been applied at policy inception because the client had suffered previously with epilepsy. The problem was that the client ...had been symptom free and medication free for over 30 years. The loading should never have been applied AND the insurer had evidence on file (a report from a neurologist) to show that the client no longer suffered with epilepsy. When we made the insurer aware of this they told us we have made a mistake. The additional 50% loading was costing the client almost $4,000 a year. We arranged to have this overspend refunded to the client and have the policy loading removed. . Our client told us I had no idea I was paying a loading. I just assumed my premium was correct and kept paying it. Mistakes do sometimes happen. If policies are not reviewed by experts on a regular basis, mistakes fail to be identified and the consequences for policy holders can be substantial. . . . . . . . . . . . #epilepsy #policyloading #loading #imhealthy #smallprint #mistakes #oversight #neverchecked #refund #dontpaymore #spendwisely #checkyourpolicy #talktoanexpert #savemoney #prioritylife See more

17.01.2022 My cover is all sorted thanks, I’m good. . When it comes to the most important things in our life, we will often frequently check things are in order. When it comes to the insurances we hold, for some reason people generally don’t review them, don’t check they are in order and don’t get a second opinion. . We provide obligation free reviews and appraisals of doctor’s cover. In the majority of cases we can save doctors thousands of dollars a year in premium. In some cases, ...we can save doctors tens of thousands of dollars a year in premium. Sometimes, we find policies that have definitions that are so harsh, the policies themselves are virtually impossible to claim on. . In all of the above cases, doctors will often ask us why didn’t I know about this? The only answer to that question is - Because your covers were never reviewed by an expert. . Whilst it is rewarding to assist and help doctors in these cases, it is also saddening. Over priced or redundant policies can be held for multiple years without review. The cumulative overspend can be hundreds of thousands of dollars. That is tragically sad and is the very reason we will often say to new clients We only wish we had met you sooner. See more

17.01.2022 My adviser told me that they tried but that there was nothing they could do. . . We meet with many new clients who tell us that they have substandard terms on their policies or have had claims declined. In many of these cases they tell us that their adviser tried to help but nothing could be done. .... . When we get involved we can often get a result that an existing adviser was unable to achieve. This is often due to our experience, knowledge and policy expertise. We believe that there is always a chance for a better outcome. Sometimes you just need someone to be in your corner and fight for you - that’s exactly what we do for our clients. See more

11.01.2022 Case Study Bowel Cancer Claim. . . In 2010 one of our clients applied for trauma cover. She had been diagnosed with Chrons disease some years previously but was managing her symptoms well with medication, diet and regular checkups. Unfortunately, when assessing her trauma application, the insurer applied a bowel cancer exclusion due to her having Chrons. We believed that a better outcome could be achieved and negotiated with the insurer to review their decision. Fortunately..., the insurer relaxed their original assessment and offered terms with a 50% loading instead. . . Our client continued to have regular check ups and colonoscopies in the years that followed. Last year during a routine checkup, their treating gastroenterologist identified something unusual and investigated further. The investigation sadly led to a bowel cancer diagnosis. Fortunately the cancer was in the early stages and was located in one small portion of the bowel which could be removed. Our client has had surgery and chemotherapy and has responded well to both. Her doctors are very happy with her recovery and have informed her that she is well and truly on the mend which is great news. . . As our client had a trauma policy, she was able to claim a tax free lump sum payment. This payment has given her the flexibility to take time off work and focus on her recovery without having to worry about money. We are so pleased that she is doing well and we are also proud of the advice that was given to her nine years ago. If we had simply accepted the exclusion that the insurer wanted to apply back in 2010, our client would not have been able to claim on her policy and her recovery would be just that little bit harder. 10.01.2022 Love The Skin You Are In! . . Australian dermatologists are recognised as being amongst the very best in the world. We will be attending the Australasian Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists (ASCD) next week where national and international thought leaders will share their teachings, experiences and excellence on the practice of dermatology. We are looking forward to what will be a great conference! See more

05.01.2022 It is estimated that two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the time they are 70. It is more important than ever before to be skin conscious and take the time to book a skin consultation if in any doubt about any changes in freckles or moles or suspicious looking spots. . Dr Jonny Levy is a G.P based in Melbourne and has had a particular interest in skin cancer for almost 10 years. Jonny graduated from Imperial College in the United Kingdom in 2001 and... obtained both a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and a certificate in Skin Cancer Medicine in 2010. Jonny started his medical career in Emergency Medicine and assisted with lots of skin laceration repairs. He became a GP and gravitated to skin cancer after a chance meeting with a skin cancer practitioner that inspired him. Jonny practices and teaches in the field. His clinic offers full body skin examination, dermoscopy, imaging of skin and spots of concern, biopsy where appropriate and surgical removal of skin cancers (as well as other treatments where needed). A large amount of Jonny’s work is around education and advice to help protect the skin and raise awareness of sun damage something so many are still unaware of. . When asked what he loves most about his job, Jonny’s first response is The patients. He enjoys the process that underpins diagnosis and treatment and the cosmesis and art involved in skin surgery. Ultimately, he is passionate about what he does as he is one of the rare people on earth who can go to work every day and cure cancer! . Ever wondered what a skin expert’s top skin tips would be? Here are Jonny’s top 6 1. Wear sunscreen. 2. Put some more on later. 3. Wear a hat. Wear Sunnies. 5. Moisturise your skin every night. 6. Have a skin scan every 3 months. . Jonny is a valued client of ours and also looks after some of our team with their regular skin checks. If you are looking to start the year with a full skin check give Jonny a call! . . #drjonnylevy #skincancer #skincancerawareness #skincancerprevention #skincancerdoctor #skincancersurgery #sunscreen #protectyourskin #skincheck #sundamage #moisturize See more

01.01.2022 ‘TIS THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY! . . On behalf of the team at Priority Life, we would like to wish you and your family a very merry festive break. Instead of sending out season’s greetings cards this year, we decided to make a donation of $5,000 dollars to The Salvation Army. As the below photo shows, we had a lot of fun dressing up! This year has been a big year for us, a year that has seen us have an extensive office renovation and also form a special partnership with Perpetual.... Despite all of the positive change, our greatest joy continues to come from helping so many with their personal insurances. This year we have assisted more of our clients with saving money on their premiums and getting their claims paid than we have in any previous year. It is truly a wonderful feeling to be there for others when they need our help the most. Have a wonderful break with your family and loved ones. May this festive season bring you happiness, success and prosperity! See more
