20.01.2022 Hanging out with this awesome giant hammerhead. They are incredibly inquisitive and very special to watch cruising around. This particular shark is a long term resident to the Vlasoff Cay area on the Great Barrier Reef. Maggie saw the shark cruising around the shallows while we were driving around so I decided to pull up and drop the anchor and have a good look knowing it would come right to the boat. I have never lost a single fish to this shark so that fact that it always comes right up to us is intriguing. #hammerheadshark #protected #greatbarrierreef #shark #commercialfishing

15.01.2022 Great Barrier Reef Tuna has plenty of Fresh Tuna available now as they are currently unloading the first of their boats.
15.01.2022 Yesterday’s unload has been done and delivered directly to Great Barrier Reef Tuna. All of the fish arrived at GBRT within 24 hours from capture and many of them were less than 12 hours from coming out of the water and into the shop. Please support local business and buy local seafood. We will be heading back out for two more trips before Christmas on Monday night to provide the freshest product available. All of our fish is fresh whole on ice and never frozen. The next couple of days I’ll be blessed to have the boss Magnolia Brooks on board with her magic to make sure we have plenty fresh whole fish available on Christmas Eve in Kuranda for pick up and also at Great Barrier Reef Tuna in Cairns.

07.01.2022 Yesterday’s unload being delivered to Great Barrier Reef Tuna in Cairns within 24hours of being caught. Fresh fish whole in ice is the best. These guys are awesome, they send our product to lots of local seafood shops in Cairns and Queensland. Most of our deliveries to GBRT are also attended by Queensland Fisheries Monitoring team measuring the catch for science. Measuring the regular catch’s can assist in working out fish populations increases or decreasing through average sizes of fish increasing or decreasing in certain areas with the help of VMS data and log books supplying daily catch records. Every single fish we catch is logged and weighed. #sustainablefishing

With Christmas approaching it looks like we will be changing from the live coral trout market and doing several trips for fresh fish to supply our customers and the team at Great Barrier Reef Tuna. Looking forward to a change in fishing styles and targeting fish in a little deeper water than we get the live trout.
