18.02.2022 Brad did an amazing job cleaning this poly tank! Just look at all the dirt and sludge at the bottom. (before cleaning) The client must be extremely happy that Brad was able to clean and sanitised the tank to ensure there is no harmful bacteria and bring back the water quality for them.... If you have any queries or potential issues with your tanks or your tank water, give us a call and we can help you get the most out of your rainwater tanks.

13.02.2022 Now here's something that will gross you out!! What you're looking at are maggots (small red circles) on the water’s edge. How did maggots get into this tank? The only way the maggots can get into the tank are when flies have laid their larvae. Typically, into animal carcasses.... So there's only 1 of 2 possibilities: 1.) Something has died in the gutters (or along the water source) and they have been washed in with the rain 2.) Something died in the tank How can you help maintain your tank and avoid this situation? - Regularly check and clear your gutters and water source - Regularly inspect your water tanks - Check overflow and screens for damage and repair. Just a friendly reminder from PWS to inspect your tanks regularly. This is the water you drink and some simple maintenance will help keep everyone healthy and happy.

27.01.2022 How often do you clean out your rainwater tank strainer? We love the natural taste of rainwater, but filtered through various different flora does not make for fresh tasting water. This beautiful specimen of a plant had all the water it could handle, with an exceptionally long root system. The property is a holiday home, and with lockdowns, the owners hadn't visited the property for some time. Lee was called out, and after some heavy man-handling, then proceeded to clean an...d sanitise their water tank. Our UV light guard strainers will help prevent this type of organic growth (along with regular maintenance from our expert water technicians). It will also prevent light getting in through the strainer, which commonly causes algae to build-up. Especially for concrete and poly water tanks. So if you haven't done so lately, go out and check your water strainer. Hopefully you don't have your own natural forest growing into your tanks!

25.01.2022 Marcel from PWS Central Highlands (Ballarat - VIC) was called out to this Hydroponic business to help with their dirty water tanks. This commercial job required a multi-step process to remove loose sediment and then scrub the liners due to the colloidal clay that had hardened. After evaluating the clients needs, Marcel has now developed a maintenance plan to help ensure their productivity remains high with Pristine clean water tanks servicing their business.... It was a big job, requiring all hands on deck! Well done team. If you have commercial tanks that haven't been cleaned in a long while, now is the time for them to be serviced. Feel free to send me a message to discuss.

22.01.2022 It's not until you drain your rainwater tanks that you can usually tell you have problems. Dirt/sludge/organic matter ... this is where bacteria and viruses fester. You might not think there's a problem, but slightly upset stomachs or skin irritations are usually tell tale signs.... Even if the water out of your taps looks clear, these photos show where your drinking water is being stored!

21.01.2022 Did you know Our String Wound Filter is based on the quality design commissioned by the Australian Navy. Pristine Water Systems (PWS) has taken this quality filter design and added a Nano Zinc Core, creating an exceptional filter exclusively to PWS. This filter reduces particles from 20 microns (m) down to 1m. Stripping out potentially harmful cysts and other contaminants in the process. The zinc nano core inhibits the growth of bacteria and bioslime from harbouring with...in the core. A Micron (m) is a unit of length equal to one millionth of a metre! As the below image shows. Giardia cysts and Cryptosporidium oocysts (the two main water borne bugs that cause stomach problems) will be as small as 4 microns. This is still far too small to be seen by the naked eye. As one of the key filters used in our Protect-UV range of Whole of House filtration systems, the String Wound / Nano Zinc core filter is essential for anyone living on water tanks.

19.01.2022 Another WHAT THE? moment These two golf balls were sucked up into the pump when cleaning a tank recently. It makes us wonder ... where they practicing their chip shots into their water tank? Why wouldn't you fish them out?... Crows often pick up golf balls thinking they are eggs We're taking a guess that these two probably landed on the roof of the house (water source) and were washed down through the drainpipe. It pays to have your water tank cleaned at least every 2 years. You just don't know what makes its way into your drinking water!

19.01.2022 Bathurst Traditional Water Tanks is now HIRING. A casual position on trial bases is required located 35mins from Bathurst & 15mins from Blayney for a young enth...usiastic person to help in the sheet metal fabrication trade. No experience required however a general interest would be preferable. Please send expression of interest to Frank at email address [email protected] or call Ah on landline (02)6368 2914. See more

17.01.2022 Marcel from PWS Central Highlands (Ballarat) wanted to highlight the sludge that can build up in the bottom of your drinking water storage tanks. It's not just the solid organic matter such as leaves and twigs. Your roof collects dust and dirt, which gets washed into your tank each time it rains. This sludge builds up over time.... It's recommended that tanks are cleaned at least every 2 years. Some need annual attention due to their location and accumulation of sludge. Sanitising your water needs to be a regular process. Basically, everytime you fill up your water tank (either delivery service or naturally from rain - or other sources). Reason being, bacteria can be flushed in at any time! So we recommend regular sanitising of your storage water with our AqueousPro water sanitiser. It naturally breaks down, is odourless, and safe to consume. And, it's an approved product under the enHealth guidelines. If you'd like to know more, just visit our website: https://www.pristinewatersystems.com.au/quadclean-3/

17.01.2022 This is the view from my office today Mount Panorama in the background the rain is building up just in time for the great race

15.01.2022 The water in this tank is full of e.Coli Some strains of e.Coli are harmless, but other strains can cause diarrhea and make you very ill. But just applying a water sanitiser to kill bacteria and viruses is not enough to ensure your drinking water is safe for consumption.... To ensure you have safe healthy drinking water, we remove sludge and organic material before we sanitise. Otherwise, bacteria will hide in and around the organic matter, only to continue making you ill. Our water sanitiser, AqueousPro, is a foodgrade sanitiser. The ingredients are included by the National Health & Medical Research Council for use in Drinking Water and is listed in the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. So if you or anyone in your household regularly complain about an upset stomach, then it's a high probability it is coming from your water tanks.

14.01.2022 As the video shows, even a new water tank that is less than 2 years old can build up with sediment and sludge. The breeding ground for bacteria and water borne viruses. But it's not only the sediment that we had to contend with. The builders had left a whole heap of concrete debris, poly pipe and rocks in the tank. So if you're getting a new concrete tank built, make sure you clear out any debris before filling up with water. If this debris were to get into your pump or filtration system, it could be a very expensive exercise to repair.

13.01.2022 Planning on getting your solar panels cleaned ahead of summer? If you're thinking about getting your Solar Panels cleaned, make sure the contractor disconnects your storm water pipes first! We've had operators around the country dealing with drinking water tanks that have had detergents and chemicals washed in during the cleaning process.... Here's some tips to help: Disconnect pipes to divert runoff Ensure roof and gutters are washed down after If Hot Water solar panels, Propylene Glycol can leak and enter its way into your tank water. Remember to reconnect your pipes! These photos show the a Glycol film on top of the water. In less than a week after the Solar Panels were cleaned, the water turned putrid and toxic. The family were complaining of headaches and a metallic taste. As the weather warms up, these are early warning signs that there's something not quite right with your drinking water.

10.01.2022 Before you get your roof cleaned (or painted), make sure you divert your water runoff away from your water tanks! Glen from PWS Northern Rivers (NSW) was called out to this property where the roof had recently been washed and gerni'd (pressure cleaned). The combination of detergent, the organic build-up coming off the roof, and the gum/sap from trees and flowers, created this thick film in their water tank.... So just remember to plan ahead before doing any maintenance on your roof - if that is where your drinking water comes from.

10.01.2022 Your tank strainer has an important job to do ... keeping unwanted organic material out of your tank. Steve from PWS Noosa had a call out to this tank last week, where a great example of our natural flora had established itself in the strainer. Smart grass here ... with an abundant water supply! Just take a look at the root system growing through the strainer!... Keeping these clean is just as important as changing your filters. It should be scheduled as regular maintenance. What settles on your roof gets washed into your tanks. Dirt. Dust. Animal droppings (with seeds in it). We have an amazing strainer available that helps make your maintenance so much easier. Our Tank Strainer with UV Light Guard not only helps keep large organic material out of your tank, but prevents light getting in and causing algae to grow. If your strainer isn't up to the job, message me for a quote. We have multiple sizes to suit most tanks.

09.01.2022 Poly (Plastic) tanks are a cost effective and popular water storage solution. But they have their own issues that you need to be aware of. Like all water storage tanks, sediment will build up over time. The flooring of Poly tanks are typically ribbed, so this can make the process a little more difficult. By and far the largest issue facing households with Poly tanks is the fact that metal roofs combined with plastic storage fails to balance out the pH of rainwater, which is n...aturally acidic. Concrete water tanks will naturally balance this pH problem out. But Poly tanks don't. And that is leading to corrosion in copper piping throughout houses. This can become a very expensive issue. The simple solution is regular tank cleaning and a filtration system to help balance the water pH. The cost of these systems can be far less expensive than having the pipework in your house spring a leak.

08.01.2022 In this video, Chris from PWS Gold Coast North shows us why it is so important to ensure your water tanks do not allow animals to get inside. Use a secure strainer and ensure your overflow pipes have mesh to prevent access. Sediment builds up over time as rain washes dirt and debris into your tanks. So a thorough tank clean is recommended at least every 2 years (depending on your environmental area).... We can clean your tanks while their full With minimal water loss And Sanitise the water without the use of Chlorine

08.01.2022 Tim from PWS Adelaide Hills was called out to help with this Poly Tank. Grass had grown on the roof, causing the lid to crack under the weight. You can see the root system reaching out to the water. Tim was able to clean it right up, removing the grass and roots system. He then gave it a solid clean and sanitised the water.... It's now ready for use and good enough to drink. But the owner will need to do some maintenance on that lid. Sunlight can get through, and this could lead to algae or even worse, animals and birds getting trapped inside.

05.01.2022 It's what you can't see that can be dangerous to your health! Don't you deserve Pristine water? Regular maintenance and a complete Tank Clean and Sanitising will help prevent illnesses from water borne diseases.... Rainwater tanks should be cleaned every 2 to 3 years. Some require more regular cleaning due to the environment: heavy amount of tree coverage, dust/dirt in the air, agricultural spraydrift. Don't hesitate to be in touch if you think your tanks need inspecting!

03.01.2022 Here's a DIY home-made Water Tank that Cameron from PWS Fraser Coast cleaned recently. Stains on the outside wall show signs of some leaching, but after a good clean and sanitise, this tank is as good as it was when it was first built (many many years ago). DID YOU KNOW ...... We can clean water tanks with liners? Our specially designed equipment allows us to clean tanks with liners, removing sediment buildup and dirt.

03.01.2022 Sometimes we all need a helping hand, but Allen from PWS Maroochy (QLD) was happy to go it alone rather than risk a grumpy workmate snapping at him! You can see just how easy it is for snakes and other animals to get access into your water tanks. When it starts warming up after periods of dry weather, we get calls to help fish unwanted animals out of water tanks. Some make it ... some not so lucky.... We're not sure if Allen needed a change of pants after spotting this one. But he deserved a cold beer for sure!

03.01.2022 To ensure your drinking water is the best it can be, we need to do more than just remove the sludge that builds up over time. It's what you can't see that can be harmful to your health! Over decades, we have developed our processes and systems to ensure your drinking water is Pristine! This includes removing the sludge that builds up on the bottom of the tank, organic material (and sometimes dead animals), and applying our professional grade Water Sanitiser.... AqueousPro is our very own water sanitiser that has been specifically designed to eradicate bacteria and viruses from your stored water. It is included by the National Health & Medical Research Council for use in Drinking Water and is listed in the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG) as a chemical available for use in the treatment of drinking water. It is NOT a Chlorine based chemical, but is environmentally friendly and ecologically harmless and is completely safe to drink. We are the experts in stored drinking water. If you would like to learn a little more about AqueousPro, feel free to visit our website: https://www.pristinewatersystems.com.au/aqueouspro50/

03.01.2022 Water Tank Liners are a great option when you have cracks, leaks or issues with the structure of your tank. But they can be tricky to clean. We're specialists in cleaning water tanks with liners, having developed our processes to ensure you have Pristine drinking water. In these photos, Marcel from PWS Central Highlands (Ballarat, VIC), had to fish out dead possums. The water was rancid, so had to be dumped. But a thorough clean and sanitisation has this tank ready for use again.

02.01.2022 Do you have a First Flush System for your rainwater tanks? Wet weather is forecast across most of the country (can we really rely on the weather report?), and if you have a First Flush system feeding into your water tanks, you need to make sure it is clear of debris and stagnant water. This is the photo of the bottom of a first flush system that Shaun recently cleaned out. The new owners of this property had no idea what the system was, or how to maintain. And they had been o...n the property for 4 years! You may need to divert the first flush system to clear out the stagnant water and debris that is sitting in it. Bacteria will be present, and you may find frogs/toads and other insects/animals. Proper maintenance will help alleviate these getting flushed into your tank, contaminating your water.
