23.01.2022 Matching initial sounds with images and words today. Reading is always fun when it's hands on!

18.01.2022 Building phonemic awareness can be as easy as changing the onset and rime or initial, middle and final sound in words.

17.01.2022 If your child has access to an iPad download the app 'Futaba'. It's an exciting and fun way for children to practise matching images and sight words, all while developing their vocabulary. It requires 2 or more players at a time and is completely free!

15.01.2022 To develop a child's knowledge of sounds and letters, practise high frequency words and build their vocabulary. This will help them to confidently read aloud, with developing fluency and intonation.

13.01.2022 Have you met Melissa the Private Tutor? She's a fun, energetic and passionate young teacher who has spent the last few years in different primary schools in the area. From Epping, Millpark, Whittlesea to Dallas, all schools are busy places, and classrooms are full of 25-29 children who all require the 1 teacher’s attention.. with only so many hours in a day, and an overloaded curriculum, it's difficult for anyone to target all the different needs in the class at the same time, everyday, as well as "teach"! 1:1 in home tutoring allows Melissa to give children explicit and guided instructions and share strategies with parents in order to help their child achieve success!

12.01.2022 It's been a busy term and these fabulous twin sisters have been working super hard at developing their vocabulary and knowledge of spelling rules through word games like this!! What word games and activities will you be playing these school holidays? Scategories and scrabble were my favourite!

12.01.2022 Break words apart into consonant blends or letter clusters, like 'tr' in 'train' to build your child's recognition of sounds.

09.01.2022 Play with hand and finger puppets and help children identify and copy the rhythms and sound patterns in stories, nursery rhymes and songs from a range of cultures.

09.01.2022 When reading, ensure your child can identify the parts of a simple sentence that represent; "What's happening?', 'Who or what is involved?' in order to gain meaning from a story or text.

07.01.2022 Does your child know their 5 and 10 facts? Develop your child's mental computation by using concrete materials like counters, and building up ten frames, to help them subitise small collections of objects. This also helps develop their ability to represent and solve simple addition and subtraction problems.

04.01.2022 Does your child know how to form all upper- and lower-case letters using the correct starting points? Practise writing letters and words, using unjoined print script of consistent size, using the appropriate pencil grip. The letters 'p, b, d and f' are commonly confused. #handwriting #writing

04.01.2022 Use everyday objects to group, partition and rearrange collections or practise counting using concrete materials starting from various points.
