16.01.2022 Top Causes of Workplace Injuries and Fatalities Falling and being struck by a dropped object are among the top causes of workplace injuries and fatalities The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that in 2017, fatal falls were at their highest level in the 26-year history of the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI), accounting for 887 (17 percent) of worker deaths.... BLS reported that being struck by falling objects or equipment resulted in 45,940 injuries in 2017 (5.2% of all workplace injuries). According to OSHA, dropped objects are the third leading cause of injuries in construction. New ANSI/ISEA 121 standard have been developed to prevent dropped objects, and to keep workers safer and their tools secured while working at heights.

12.01.2022 San Diego 2019 Dropped objects on a work sites create a multitude of costs. In 2016, dropped objects resulted in 255 worker fatalities, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The issue is one of OSHAs Fatal Four causes of construction deaths, accounting for 9.4% of fatal injuries in the industry. The number of nonfatal falling object-related injuries reported in 2016 was 47,920. Dropped objects, according to BLS data, is the third-leading cause of injuries on jobsites and not only results in worker fatalities and injuries, but damage to equipment, structures and the environment as well.

10.01.2022 The second-most common workplace fatalities involved contact with objects and equipment, which increased 13% to 786 incidents last year. The increase reflected a 39% spike in the number of workers caught in running equipment or machinery, and a 17% increase in the number hit by falling objects or equipment.
