18.01.2022 H E E L P A I N Plantar heel pain, often caused by a condition called plantar fasciitis is a common condition we treat in the clinic, and throughout lockdown we have been seeing an increase in the number of people with plantar heel pain. With a lot of people still working from home, contributing factors can include:... -Drastic increase in walking or daily exercise -Footwear choices (or more time out of shoes) -Hard floor surfaces (tiles, floorboards, concrete) A common symptom of plantar fasciitis is pain first thing in the morning, that ‘warms up’, and can often become quite debilitating. 15.01.2022 CORNS, CALLUSES AND BLISTERS Daily life can be hard on the feet! The steps we take and the shoes we wear are constantly putting pressure on our feet, which can cause the development of corns, callus and blisters.... Here are 5 tips to help prevent corns, callus and blisters: 1. Get your feet professionally measured- this way you get shoes that are a perfect fit for your feet and are less likely to rub and cause friction. 2. When shopping for shoes, aim to be trying shoes on at the end of the day. Our feet swell the most in the afternoon, and this will give you a better idea of what shoes may rub and lead to corns, calluses and blisters. 3. Keep shoes in good condition. Worn shoes do not give our feet as much padding and protection, which can lead to the development of corns, callus and blisters. 4. Wear socks to protect your feet- socks made from natural fibres will allow the skin to breathe, whilst also cushioning and protecting your foot from rubbing. 5. Moisturising your feet daily to maintain skin hydration helps to keep the skin soft and helps in preventing the development of corns and calluses. If you would like any further information please don’t hesitate to contact us on 5976 2377 or book online today.
