01.01.2022 Below is a case presentation of a patient we saw presenting with chronic osteoarthritis of her knee. She had been referred for a total knee replacement but her last minute decision to trial physiotherapy worked. Upon discharge she is managing very well with her exercises and living life pre arthritis stage! There is good evidence for physio in managing osteoarthritis . Of course like anything it may not be successful but it’s definitely worth trialling before undergoing invasive surgery. Even if you end up requiring surgery the exercises will be required for recovery so you’ll have a head start.... Who knows , you may end up making good progress like B did and avoid surgery all together. Have a read of B’s story below
