19.01.2022 Jobkeeper Payment Under the JobKeeper Payment, businesses impacted by the Coronavirus will be able to access a subsidy from the Government to continue paying their employees. Affected employers will be able to claim a fortnightly payment of $1,500 per eligible employee from 30 March 2020, for a maximum period of 6 months. Eligible employees ... Eligible employees are employees who: are currently employed by the eligible employer (including those stood down or re-hired); were employed by the employer at 1 March 2020; are full-time, part-time, or long-term casuals (a casual employed on a regular basis for longer than 12 months as at 1 March 2020); are at least 16 years of age; are an Australian citizen, the holder of a permanent visa, a Protected Special Category Visa Holder, a non-protected Special Category Visa Holder who has been residing continually in Australia for 10 years or more, or a Special Category (Subclass 444) Visa Holder; and are not in receipt of a JobKeeper Payment from another employer. If your employees receive the JobKeeper Payment, this may affect their eligibility Application Process Businesses without employees Businesses without employees, such as the self-employed, can register their interest in applying for JobKeeper Payment via ato.gov.au from 30 March 2020. Businesses without employees will need to provide an ABN for their business, nominate an individual to receive the payment and provide that individual’s Tax File Number and provide a declaration as to recent business activity. People who are self-employed will need to provide a monthly update to the ATO to declare their continued eligibility for the payments. Payment will be made monthly to the individual’s bank account.

You will need to provide your employees with:... * your ABN * the type of employment you will hire them under, for example, full time, part time or casual * your nominated default super fund's details, including:full name, unique superannuation identifier (USI), their ABN. Your employees will then need to print out the completed form summary and give this to you. Once you've received the form, you can: * work out how much tax to withhold from payments you make to them * pay their super to their chosen super fund. 04.01.2022 If you work in hospo, here are 6 myths you should know about. Myth 1: employees don't need to be paid for time spent opening and closing a business. FACT: Time= Employees must be paid for all hours they dedicate to work. For example, if you’re required to be at work at 7.45am to set up for an 8am opening, you need to be paid from 7.45am.... Myth 2: paying low, flat rates of pay is OK if the worker agrees. FACT: It’s unlawful to pay less than the minimum rates from the worker’s award or enterprise agreement. Myth 3: paying employees with food, drink or store goods is OK. FACT: isn’t . Srsly. You need to be paid in money for all the time you work. Myth 4: employers can make deductions from an employee's wages to cover cash register discrepancies, breakages and customers who don't pay. FACT: Deductions can be made only in very limited circumstances a till being short, bill runners and breakages aren’t legit reasons. Myth 5: lengthy unpaid work trials are OK. FACT: Unpaid work trials are only OK for as long as they’re needed to demonstrate the skills required for the job. Depending on the work, this could range from an hour to one shift. Myth 6: pay slips aren’t mandatory employers only need to give employees pay slips if they ask for them. FACT: Every worker needs to be given a pay slip for every pay day. We recommend keeping your own record of when you work too, so you can check you’re being paid accurately. This will help you raise and resolve any issues
