16.02.2022 Photos of the Christmas lunch held at Brothers Leagues Club Innisfail on Thursday 2nd December 2021. One hundred and seventeen in attendance with a huge contingent from the Ingham Probus Club. Thank you for your support everyone! A great time was had by all!

14.02.2022 Thursday 25th November 2021 A very big turnout for our meeting today with 75 members in attendance resulting in a quick scratch around for sufficient chairs for everyone to sit on. Great to see our club so well supported! We were pleased to have Linda Coulson inducted into the club this month with Secretary Marianne giving a brief introduction and President Jim Brown carrying out the induction formalities. Welcome Linda! Speaker for the month was Jesse Kay from St John’s C...ommunity Care. Jesse had travelled down from Cairns especially to speak to our members and was supported by local representatives Meghan Davis and Amie Millard from the Innisfail branch. Jesse gave a rundown of the many services provided by St John’s Community Care and the means by which they may be accessed. Numerous leaflets and pamphlets were made available and all three officers made themselves available to answer questions and queries after the meeting. Thank you St John’s for taking time out to meet with us! It was most appreciated. Upcoming events: Christmas lunch at Brothers Leagues Club on Thursday 2nd December // 37th Birthday lunch on Tuesday 8th February 2022 at Innisfail’s Crown Hotel (currently undergoing massive refurbishments but will all be completed in time for our lunch). Word has it that the renovations are ‘out of this world’ ..well worth seeing. So book up for the birthday lunch and come and see for yourselves! We are now in recess until our January General Meeting on Thursday 27th January 2022. Happy Christmas everyone! Geoff See more

22.01.2022 Our much anticipated Club trip to the ‘Outback’ from 1st to 5th August, encompassing Mt Garnet, Mt Surprise, Cobbold Gorge and Undara Caves, saw 39 members and guests enjoy five days of fun, friendship and fellowship in this beautiful part of North Queensland. Trip organisers Bev and Bruno, professional as ever, did not disappoint and provided a full itinerary, the highlights being a boat trip along the narrow Cobbold Gorge, a guided tour of a large working cattle station and a visit to Undara Caves. Plenty of laughter and friendly banter plus great food and accommodation made this a trip to remember. Geoff

21.01.2022 Hoping all members are doing well during this tough time and hopefully things will improve in the next few months.

18.01.2022 Well, March has now come and gone and with it our AGM and changeover of officers. But we first had our monthly General Meeting at which President Richard Rees welcomed visitors from neighbouring clubs of Mission Beach El Arish and Cardwell and inducted two new members, Greg and Dell Steve, into our fold bringing our total membership to 93. Richards final duty was to ‘hand over the reins’ to our new President for 2018/19 Josie Vecchio. Josie’s incoming Executive Committee co...mprised Lyndall Stavrou as Vice President and Guest Speaker Coord., Geoff Duffield as Secretary, and Kate Finistis as Treasurer with the addition of the following members to the Management Team: Judi Rees, Jill Sorensen, Carolyn Broom, Judy Edwards, Wendy Sheils, Frank Agli, Eddie Dimech, Frances Lagana, Lynn Mifsud, Lana Anderson and Beryl Davies. Next function will be a club luncheon at Innisfail RSL on Tuesday 10th April and a Mystery Trip later in the month. See more

18.01.2022 My apologies for not posting anything on our Facebook page for some while now and in response to some friendly ‘nudging’ from one or two regular visitors to this page (Sharon F. in particular!!!!!!) I have penned this timeline of events, posted our newsletters and some more pics. to bring us all up to date. Any members out there (or anyone else for that matter) who would like to contribute I encourage you to do so, as I do get snowed under with a lot of other stuff a lot of t...Continue reading

12.01.2022 37 Members of the group visited Halifax last week enjoying a lovely morning tea at the Museum and a good look around. Margie Johnston & Marianne Pearce explored the area a bit more. Lunch was then had at Cardwell and they were impressed at the terrific walking path along the beach.

12.01.2022 Our November General Meeting was well attended with a total of 69 members in attendance plus 3 guests. We inducted one new member this month and have another induction lined up for our next meeting in January 2017. For the moment though, we are in recess for the month of December so that we can all concentrate on getting ready for Christmas. Our guest speaker for November was well known local identity Jim Arnell whose subject was the history of the St Vincent de Paul Society ...with it’s origins in France, it’s introduction into Innisfail in the early 30’s, and it’s role in present day society which ranged from operating the popular St. Vinnie’s shops to supporting the sick, poor and needy, refugee re-settlement, emergency relief and the Mini-Vinnie school groups. December 1st was our Christmas lunch at Kurrimine Beach Motel with an excellent turnout of 80 members and guests. Congratulations to Lew and Mari for organising such a great event including great entertainment. Pleasing to see everyone getting into the Christmas Spirit and dressing for the occasion. See more

11.01.2022 Guest Speaker for our February General Meeting was Stuart Duplock CEO of Mayfair 101, the developers destined to resurrect and transform our much loved Dunk Island which was left desolate following damage by cyclone Yasi. Stuart gave us an insight into the company’s vision for the island and the knock-on benefits for the whole of the Cassowary Coast region. Stuart is seen here being congratulated by our Guest Speaker Coordinator Richard Rees (on left).

10.01.2022 Great day trip to Cairns Botanical Gardens. Perfect weather, perfect company and perfect location. Check out these ladies enjoying a coffee break at the gardens' cafe. Dunwoody's provided a great lunch before we rounded off the day with a visit to St Monica's Cathedral to enjoy the magnificent windows depicting the story of the Creation.

10.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Here is a glimpse of the final emblem design for our club shirts/T-shirts. As you know, the previous silk screen printing could no longer be done in Innisfail so we were forced to look at alternatives and this is the design the club finally agreed to. Members are free to continue to wear their club shirts bearing the old design but over time, as old shirts need replacing and as new members require a club shirt, the new design will get phased in. Members will be r...esponsible for purchasing their own WHITE shirt either from their favourite store or directly from a catalogue at ‘Picnic’s’ shop in Owen St, Innisfail. The new design is to be placed on the RIGHT hand side of the garment so please ensure there is no stitching where the design will go and please avoid loose woven materials as these don’t accept embroidery very well. The embroidery will be done by ‘Picnic’s’ in monthly batches, and Club Secretary Marianne has kindly agreed to receive shirts from members and to deliver them in bulk to Picnic’s on a monthly basis. The cost of embroidery will be $8.50 per shirt. Due to the current disruption to meetings as a result of the Covid-19 restrictions it may be advisable to delay the purchase and embroidery of shirts until such time as we can all meet up again - whenever that might be. Meanwhile stay safe, stay positive and stay in touch. Finally, a big Thank You to Nicole and Phil at PICNICs for all their help and patience in getting our design to the point of readiness for embroidery. Geoff. See more

08.01.2022 Our March General Meeting was held on 23rd March 2017 with 56 Members and 11 guests in attendance. As one of her last duties as President, Judi had the pleasure of inducting two new members into the Club. After the usual tasty 'smoko' we then proceeded with our Annual General Meeting and said Goodbye to ex-president Judi and Welcome to her husband and incoming president Richard. Most members of the old Committee, including Judi, have been re-elected with some in new or dual ...roles. A special welcome to our new lady Vice President Josie Vecchio. We have a strong and energetic team to lead our 86 strong Club through the coming twelve months and we have already mapped out an interesting and exciting program of events in which to foster the Probus values of fun, friendship and fellowship. Keep the Club strong and be actively involved - the rewards are great and the Club will prosper! See more

26.12.2021 Thursday 28th October 2021 65 members attended our meeting today together with one visitor, Linda, who will be inducted into the club at the November General Meeting. With general business out of the way, Alan Curtis and Judy Edwards kept everyone amused with a few jokes leading up to tea break. Guest Speaker for October was Trish Ernst, president of the Innisfail Historical Society. And in a very polished address, Trish, who can proudly trace her ancestry back to the Fir...st Fleet, touched on many aspects including the growth and development of the the Historical Society which now occupies the whole of the old School of Arts building, several setbacks encountered, such as a near disastrous fire and the ravages of cyclone Larry, and current projects, which include a room dedicated to Cyclone Larry and development of a dedicated Facebook page. During question time Herb Layt offered some additional historical facts and reminiscences which was also supplemented by other interested members. Vice President Jill Sorensen gave the vote of thanks and Trish was warmly applauded for her interesting and informative presentation.
