18.01.2022 Asbestos lurks in more places than you think Did you know that if your workplace, home, garage or shed was built or renovated before 1990, there’s a good chance it has some asbestos? Asbestos was added to over 3,000 products, so it can be found in workplace and home areas commonly renovated or repaired: bathrooms, kitchens, carports and sheds, guttering and downpipes, roof sheeting, and under vinyl floors, carpet and tiles and many more.... National Asbestos Awareness Week 2020 reminds Australians to be asbestos aware before starting any work around the workplace or home because it lurks in more places than you’d think. So whether you’re a tradie or a DIY renovator thinking about some summer renovation work, make sure you’re aware of where asbestos might be found so you know how to stay safe. Exposure to asbestos could lead to debilitating and fatal diseases such as asbestosis, lung cancer or mesothelioma in later years. This Asbestos Awareness Week, we’re calling on Australians to know the health risk, be aware of where asbestos might be found before starting work, and call a professional for advice and help. If you’re unsure whether your building contains asbestos, ask a licensed asbestos assessor or removalist for advice. This is one job you don’t want to DIY. https://worksafe.tas.gov.au/asbestos

17.01.2022 Thanks to the Central Coast Chamber of Commerce for hosting a chat with the TCCI today to hear whats happening at a state level. Some great initiatives across the state ie 'But Something Tasmanian' a one-stop-shop for Tasmanian manufacturers. Some good initiatives from our Central Coast Chamber as well. Everyone 'giving a little'. Thumbs up. https://buysomethingtasmanian.com.au/

09.01.2022 Today I was reminded about the Dancing Guy. Never heard of him? 'When you find a lone nut doing something great have the guts to be the first person to stand up and join in" Have a great weekend, go dance in the sun :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fW8amMCVAJQ

06.01.2022 One of our Core Values at Synectic is "Excellence". We are leaders in our profession. We focus on quality and best practices without compromising value. So, las...t week 17 of us went to Productivity Improvers for some serious (but fun!) Lean training. What's Lean? Their website explains it best: "Lean is the set of tools that assist in the identification and steady elimination of waste (muda). As waste is eliminated quality improves while production time and cost are reduced." Back at work this week, there's a different kind of hum. This is the sort of training you can do something with straight away, but will also have significant, lasting impacts. It's changed the way we look at things and we can't wait to share it with the rest of the team. Highly recommend! See more
