25.01.2022 My old XS1/2 race bike frame, I think its time for a rebuild :)

24.01.2022 Well another day is coming to and end, it's been a busy week with three motorcycles ready to be picked up, still sitting here :( At least a good friend of mine ...and long time customer came in for new tires to his immaculate 1982 Ducati 500 Pantah. This motorcycle looks like it just came off the show room floor :) I hate having motorcycles ready to go then they just sit here :( See more

23.01.2022 This is what I built and raced back in the early 90s, it was a hoot to ride

22.01.2022 Some more photos from the weekend

21.01.2022 Completed this little Benelli a few weeks back, it's a 1957 Leoncino 125. It was a total mess when I first saw it, I think it has come up OK

20.01.2022 The mighty V-Max 1700, in for it's 50,000Km service and I am the only one that gets to put a spanner on it. I've fitted a full Akrapovic system loosing over 10 ...Kg in weight, the full Bazzaz system with quick shift and adjustable traction control and it pumps out a true 200 Hp. My arms are now a few inches longer and I have a neck brace on order. This thing is an evil weapon :) See more

20.01.2022 Just finished another XS650, 750cc rephased to 270 degrees, 34mm Mikunis, Probe ignition. Looks so sweeet

19.01.2022 Another long term customers motorcycle, the Yamaha XJR1300, a might bike, I had the 1200 version. Just finished its 36,000Km service, new chain and sprockets t...hat replaced the originals and a set of Michelin Pilot Road 4. These really are a great motorcycle with heaps of grunt and fully adjustable front suspension and Ohlins on the rear that are also fully adjustable, and yes I miss mine. See more

19.01.2022 Hi Wayne, my cams are reground, NOT cut and twisted!!, I have two cams, one is a street, the other is race. I use the street one in all my rebuilds, it has the same lift as stock but a little more duration. The race one is not good on the street, you have to check valve to valve clearance and piston to valve clearance with the race one. Call me on 0409 164 274 or 03-9330 4909, thanks Daryl.

17.01.2022 This little baby got picked up today after I had to do a few things to her. Front fork overhaul. A throttle that would not return, the bars were not cleaned of ...all the powder coating :( And I had to replace the clutch gasket, it still had remains from a former gasket on it. But it is all good now with no leaks. A happy motorcycle with a happy owner :) See more

17.01.2022 Some of my OU/OW72 parts with the stock parts to show the differences

16.01.2022 Completed this little Benelli a few weeks back, its a 1957 Leoncino 125. It was a total mess when I first saw it, I think it has come up OK

16.01.2022 Hi all, to build an engine you have to start with a clean set of cases, all mine start this way

15.01.2022 just finished two more XS650 rebuilds, both are 750cc with 270 degree crankshafts, notice the two different cylinder heads :)

12.01.2022 Not only do I work on the best vertical twin ever built but I also do modern motorcycles as well, this VTR1000SP2 (RC51) has had extensive work done to it as we...ll, fully enclosed air-box with a larger intake, remapped Power Commander, a "little" engine work :) and fully rebuilt suspension. This machine not only goes like a cut cat it handles like a dream :) See more

12.01.2022 Well hi all, another year has started :) and another engine build has arrived, this will will be close to stock. I recently took delivery of the last ever race engine that Shell Thuet built :) As a lot of you know I build a lot of rephased engines, well this year I will be building two engines as close as possible to each other, one with a rephased crank, 270 dergrees of course and the other a standard XS650 crank. These will be run-in on my dyno then power runs will be done to show the difference, both torque and horsepower. With a few so called "experts" doing this modification it is time they learned a thing to two about rephasing instead of just saying "its an impovement". Any questions ? Bring on 2016 :)

12.01.2022 This is a 1956/7 Benelli 125cc "Leoncino", which translates to "Lion Cub". This little engine was a real mess when I got it to do a rebuild on, wish I had taken... a before photo. The crankcases have been wet blasted and the external covers are polished. The barrel has been re-bored to suit a oversize piston and the crankshaft rebuilt. All bearings and seals have been replaced. I am proud of this little rebuild :) And now I have a 1972 Benelli Sport Special 125 to do as well, but I have a couple of Yamaha XS650/750s to do first :) See more

10.01.2022 Hi All, I have moved my shop from 8A Rodd Road, Airport West to 8 King Street, Airport West, all details still the same, please ring my mobile/cell phone only, land line not hooked up yet.

06.01.2022 Well, what a weekend we had at the Island Classic on Philip Island and as usual we had four seasons in every day, from driving rain to brilliant sunshine, and e...verything in between, but thats the Island for you. The Qualifying on Saturday was run in terrible conditions with non-stop rain. Stacey and Racer did a 2mins36secs with a top speed of 157Kph, her first outing on the Racer and first time at the Island. The second Qualifying session was a bit better with a 2mins35secs and a top speed of 172Kph as she was getting used to the Racer and the track. Saturday turned out to be a lot better conditions with mostly fine conditions for our track time. In Race One (R1) she dropped her times to a best of 2mins15secs and a speed of 174Kmh. In R2 Stacey dropped her times down to 2mins13secs at 181Kmh. So that was Saturdays racing done, we were happy with the results, but the Racer wasnt revving out so we added two teeth to the rear sprocket, up to 36T and did a minor jetting change. Sunday the weather was still all over the place, rain, sun, rain, sun. But our two races were both run in the dry. We had cracked the mounting on the exhaust in the last race on Saturday and had to make some hasty repairs to that, thanks John for taking care of that. R3 saw the times drop again to 2mins11secs at 182Kmh, getting better. R4, the final race for the weekend saw the times lowered again to 2mins10secs and our fastest speed through the trap at 183Kmh, faster than Ivan Heoy on his XS650/750 racer :) Well done :) So what did we come away from the weekend with ? The exhaust needs to be more flexibly mounted, the back end needs lifting, and we need lighter throttle pull. So I think for its first real outing in racing conditions we should all be very proud of what the Yamaha XS650 Club of Australia has achieved with what we have built. I want to thank John Chambers for helping me in the pits for the weekend, thanks buddy, great work :). And to all the Club members that dropped in to say hello and lend their support, to Frank Meade for his donation of $50.00 to the Racer account, thanks Frank :). And to Stacey Heaney for her riding talents in some really bad condition. There is more to come with our Racer. Your President, Daryl Hutcheon See more

03.01.2022 It has been noted on someones blog that they have the only 270 degree rephased engine up and running in the USA, this is total BS. I have been supplying my rephase pins for around 10 years with most going to the USA, I think to date I have shipped around 75 in all that time. Professional Motorcycle Tuning is the ONE AND ONLY source of these pins in the world, for more info please contact me. I also have cams (not cut and twisted, YUK) and ignitions to suit this awesome modification, thanks Daryl Hutcheon.

03.01.2022 Burning the mid-night oil at my shop :)

02.01.2022 And another one rolls out of the shop, a mild little resto-bobber built from a XS1 using XS400 front and rear ends, a nice little motorcycle :)
