24.01.2022 I’ve decided to put my Christmas stuff up early this year (early for me anyway), around mid November. I feel like it’s the year for it! (this is a very American article, with Thanksgiving and SAD etc, but I still like the idea of being unapologetic about "going early"!)

24.01.2022 Totally inspired by @kayladaveyorganizing’s post and just re-worked my phone’s home screen. I wonder how long I’ve spent lately making my tech look pretty? . I feel it’s SO worth it

22.01.2022 I’m a massive fan of pottering. My favourite pastime!

22.01.2022 I take five different psychiatric medications. I have PTSD, OCD, and ADHD. I’m recovering from an eating disorder. While I’ve made enormous strides in my healin...g, I will likely always need long term care and support around my mental health. A lot of the time, mainstream conversations about mental health are really the most conveniently-packaged ones. Someone has clinical depression, they find an antidepressant and a therapist, and they’re back on their feet. They stumble from time to time, but ultimately they have the tools to navigate future episodes. These are real and valid stories! And? These aren’t the stories of the people I know and love. Many of us have numerous coexisting struggles, require intensive and ongoing care, and play whack-a-mole with our symptoms for years before we can actually say we’ve got a handle on it. We are complicated. We are messy, dynamic, and complex people. And our stories are just as important, valid, and in need of shining a light on. If you’re one of us, know that I see you. Know that your healing matters. Know that there’s no shame in having a story that isn’t easy to package and sell to some brand’s awareness campaign. All of you ALL of you is welcome and wanted here. You don’t have to compartmentalize to fit someone else’s idea of what recovery is supposed to look like. See more

15.01.2022 This is not me, I’m happy to say! I have a few nice dresses and specialised outfits (like fancy coat, sky-high heels etc) that get worn rarely (I never go out ) but I reckon apart from a few sentimental pieces I don’t wear but love (stored separately), I wear the rest - probably 95%. I used to do this - collect clothes but never wear them. But I’ve cultivated new habits and now if they aren’t going to get worn, they go before they have a chance to be in the never wear category! What about you? Do you have 70% of your clothes sitting there never getting worn?

12.01.2022 Shoulds do not come from within. Shoulds are prescribed identities, structures, systems, and ways of being that have been programmed into our minds to simplify ...a complex world. Shoulds also feel sticky and difficult to release because we desire so strongly to belong and fit in. When we live by a should, we abandon what is inside of ourselves. We stop looking inward because we are focused on how we measure up to the outside world. When you find yourself stuck on a should, try asking yourself: Do I want to live my life based on others' ideas or my own? Do I want to make choices according to what systems tell me to do or follow my authenticity? Is it worth disregarding my values to fit into prescribed boxes that may not suit me? Practice putting down the shoulds, they are not yours to carry. Look inward to come back home to your authentic self. See more

10.01.2022 We're on YouTube now! The last few episodes are available to listen to on YouTube if that's your thing. We'll slowly add the backlog over time. https://youtube.com/channel/UCtiW5-mOLIdgzC6uIUfvenA

09.01.2022 #ADHD mistake that I’m unlearning: I tend to work in panic mode, meaning I prioritize what FEELS urgent and/or exciting, instead of prioritizing what’s most l...ikely to improve my overall results and contribute to longer term success. I drew this pyramid to illustrate how I’m shifting my focus as a content creator, just to give you an idea of what this is like in practice. I used to prioritize: New projects that captured my attention, new people that I wanted to collaborate with, or whatever deliverables had the soonest due date. Excitement or external pressure determined where my focus lived... which didn’t actually serve me. The base of the pyramid is where I’ve tried to shift to. The logistical stuff! The systems, the emails, the calendars... I stopped putting off the background anxiety and started making those the tasks I handled first. Why? Because when my workflow is better when I give attention to the small tasks that add up to make my job easier in the long run my results are a whole lot better. I dedicate an hour every morning to sitting down and asking myself, What little things are getting in my way? I write them down. I just dump them on a sheet of paper. And then if those issues can be addressed within the hour, I tackle as many of them as I can. I answer the email that’s nagging me. I ask my manager about that process I never fully understood. I update my calendar and figure out how to make my job easier, instead of prioritizing the most urgent or exciting thing, hoping I’ll get to the other stuff later. We work best when we aren’t overwhelmed, with the anxiety static of unanswered emails and complicated systems we haven’t totally sorted out. Give this method a try make your own pyramid and flip it! Let me know how it goes. See more

09.01.2022 Can’t argue with this!

08.01.2022 Sometimes we need to look at the rules we force upon ourselves and ask if they’re serving us right now or not. Thanks to Adult Conversation for sharing this. https://www.facebook.com/dwunker/posts/3675184562521451

08.01.2022 When it comes to you and your home and your space, a lot of people have binary thinking that can delay progress because they are stopped in their tracks due to one choice being out of reach. The "all or nothing" thoughts can prevent you moving forward or being kind to yourself as you move forward. Instead of thinking "I have to be completely uncluttered before I'm happy" you can say "I'm decluttering so I can simplify my life, AND I'm okay with it taking as long as it needs t...o take". "Letting go is so hard for me AND I'm learning more about how to do it every day" "I love to shop, AND will do so intentionally to reduce clutter" What binary thinking has held you back and how can you re-frame it?

06.01.2022 Happy Monday! Thinking about Christmas? Here's an article I wrote for Howards Storage World about how to make space for Christmas :) https://organised.hsw.com.au/make-space-for-christmas/

03.01.2022 New car is doing its job nicely. It’s not even a very big car but I definitely wouldn’t have fit all this in the little blue one! #declutter #organise #adelaide

03.01.2022 I’ve been playing with Trello to see if it can do what my bullet journal does. I used it a while ago when I was on the IOPO International board but I didn’t embrace it and didn’t really like it. But look - I’ve made it pretty (canva!), I have project boards as well as this weekly spread board and they’re working really well. And Bask Life Coaching uses it too so we have a shared Be Uncluttered Podcast board that she’s done a great job with (templates, checklists etc). ... I’m finding that I don’t forget the stuff is there because I’m so used to looking in my bullet journal that when it’s not there, I’m triggered to look at Trello. Do you use Trello? What are your favourite uses or hacks for it?

02.01.2022 Sometimes I overload myself and then panic about the workload then end up in paralysis. I can’t decide what to do out of it all so I avoid it all and find something else to do. Not helpful! I’m feeling like that today so I just went for a walk to clear my head, then sat down and wrote this. I will put just three things on it. The three thing limit and the what can wait is to calm the panicking.... The change from to do today to What’s important today is because I want to see them not as things I have to do, but as things I want to do because they are important. If you’re feeling overwhelmed today, join me in 3 Important Things and let’s see if we can reduce the stress and avoidance!
