15.01.2022 @caronlab_australia In the past couple of days we have seen multiple salons claim they will open up for Cosmetic Injections from the 18th of September (rural Victoria). These salons claim to have been exempt from the restrictions on the beauty industry. A quick phone call with our contact at DHHS ensured us that this was (sadly) NOT the case. Cosmetic injections are classed as non-essential and are therefore not permitted to be performed by any business in Victoria until the ...final step of the road map. These times are difficult and stressful for our industry. We understand that and are facing the same issues with our own salon Smooth & Tan. However, breaking the rules will NOT help the industry. In fact, it might put the good work that Katelyn Wheatley has been doing with her petition to bring the restrictions for Beauty in line with Hair and Retail at risk. If we want a chance for change, we have to stand together and play by the rules. The petition has been signed almost 20,000 times, which has put our case on the parliamentary agenda. The Honourable Wendy Lovell MP has agreed to sponsor a Parliamentary petition which has been green-lit by the Legislative Council. 02.01.2022 WE DID IT!!!!! The Victorian Government have made an announcement that Beauty can re-open in line with hairdressing, EARLIER! Under the road map hairdress...ers were listed to reopen in Melbourne under the third step, and beauty and professional services in the last step, step 4. However these services - where workers can wear masks - will be permitted to open earlier - towards the end of October. This will mean services such as facials, lip waxing, facial tattooing (or any service where a mask has to be removed), cannot occur. More announcements yet to be made if Regional Victoria can open even sooner than the end October! Huge thanks to Katelyn Wheatley from @laserskinbody for starting the petition 6 days ago!
