22.01.2022 The new Company Review feature on SEEK has only been in place for a short time. However it is already telling an interesting story about how employees (both current and former) rate their employers. As of Friday 22 July 2016, a quick glance of 120 companies, largely from corporate Australia, has the current average rating at 3.5 out of 5 or 70%. More than 40% of companies have a rating of 69% or less. Only 6 out of the 120 (5%) companies scored above 4 or above 80%. No doubt there will be some correlation between a companys rating and its ability to attract and retain staff. What do you think?

We placed a very capable senior Java Dev with a Melbourne corporate client who needed additional capability for a new hi-tech product they are developing which will help them stay at the forefront of IoT solutions. One of our key IT partners engaged a great young graduate whos going to play an important role working through a back...log of .Net C# work they have. Its his first full-time position since finishing uni with straight distinctions and high distinctions and hes delighted to start his career. Another client re-engaged one of our senior contractors who has been instrumental in uplifting some of their essential technical documentation. We sourced a very capable Lead Mobile developer who has an unparalleled background in enterprise grade mobile solutions across a number of well-known local organisations. His interviewed has confirmed and no doubt hell make a great impression, and help put them on the path to the best solutions the latest mobile technologies can provide. We arranged an interview for a highly recommended lead BA with a local not-for-profit whos looking at uplifting their IT systems and introduce best practice around Customer experience, mobile technologies and alignment of IT systems with their new strategic direction. Whats common with each of these clients is that there is a compelling story and business imperative behind each of these placements. All organisations need great people to achieve great results and it feels good to be part of it.

20.01.2022 What’s the one thing you can do to standout in the crowd as a Job Applicant? As a Job seeker there are plenty of things you can do to make sure you put your best foot forward. However, there is one thing that almost nobody does which is to provide a simple introductory video of yourself.... It doesn’t have to be professionally produced, just a simple video saying who you are, a brief summary of why are believe you are very well suited to the position. A bit like a covering letter but in video form. It will certainly set you apart from your competition. Make sure you appear friendly, confident, competent and engaging. I recently received a video from a candidate who did just that. Out of dozens who applied they got the job!
