24.01.2022 The building is beautifully modulated by the use of timber batten extensions forming bay windows against the curvaceous white render masonry which all sit wonderfully with the Will Dangar designed gardens. Located on a corner site on the hills overlooking Tamarama Beach the design allows the house to be a sculpture on the site. With stone forming the base a sculptured curved facade creates the lighter upper levels.... 02.01.2022 A series of skylights and clerestory windows puncture the concrete roof, allowing daylight deep into living spaces and internal rooms. The Woollahra Courtyard House is a four bedroom home designed for an empty nester couple and three generations of extended family visitors. 01.01.2022 Many coastal homes sacrifice passive solar principles in order to maximise their eastern ocean views, but this home actually orients the outdoor living to a large covered northern terrace whilst still maintaining the ocean views. On an enviable site directly opposite the dunes of Peregian Beach, the challenge for this project was to get high enough to capture the sea views over the dunes without exceeding the statutory height limits or blocking all of the neighbour’s vie...ws In fact, the finished building sits well below the maximum height allowed on the sloping block with the bulk of the building running back along the depth of the site, while the portion of the building across the width of the site sits on a minimum of structure to create an open terrace underneath.
