25.01.2022 Hi everyone, Firstly we have to thank each and everyone of you for coming forward and showing your interest. The emails and facebook comments with your support are what drives us! Rather than hearing snippets of information here and there, we prefer to share everything directly from us. ... We have experienced some delays in our approval process and as a result our opening will be delayed. We are working closely council to change the zoning restrictions for our land. This has taken longer than expected but were working around the clock to make this process as quick as possible and get the doors open. As we progress through the government processes we will keep you informed and ideally within 60 days you will see some construction activity. Were very sorry for the delays, and we wish as much as you that we could be open in July. Thanks for understanding, The Team Progressive Health and Fitness

24.01.2022 So what's everyones favourite local radio station? Asking for advertising purposes AND something to do with our next promo perhaps? Stay tuned..

23.01.2022 Hi George Town Some more solid news today! After much effort in establishing a new small business, the land for the Gym Spa and Yoga is now officially ours! ... I look forward to some more fresh updates in the coming weeks! Luckily we all know Rome wasnt built in a day! Success comes to those who persist! And some random trivia for everyone.... 1: I started a 4 litres of water a day challenge just for something to do a few weeks ago. I didnt dig too deep into the details or health side, after all its only water. Guess what a side effect has been ? Ive lost 5 Kg 2: Life doesnt always come gift wrapped and without bumps along the way. This Wed I find out more details from a new surgeon. Looks like Shoulder reco # 4 The side effects of contact sport and living life on the edge at times! Any way I look forward to more news soon! Cheers Stuart

20.01.2022 Huge congratulations to Tyeisha Hinds! Our winner of the FREE 12 MONTH MEMBERSHIP was very well deserved Tyeisha had the most entries by far in the draw as she basically tagged half of Tasmania in the comments. Thank you to everyone that participated, stay tuned for more giveaways and updates, the next one wont be far away...

20.01.2022 Gday Georgetown and everyone who is keen to see the Gym up running. I’ve been getting lots of contact seeking updates so I thought I’d give a shout out to everyone at once. I much prefer to provide updates via our own page. ... Being a business owner it’s not my preference to discuss the nitty gritty behind the scenes things out in a public forum. Aside from the confidentiality aspect, it’s just info that gets discussed between owners and managers etc. Anyway i want everyone to know that my commitment to see this through has not wavered one bit. Aside from how much has already been financially invested to date in the process (more than $30,000) I’m a big believer in George Town being on the cusp of an exciting future. The town is alive and growing, confidence is growing, WE business owners just need the banks to catch up with their thinking. Hopefully our new council can start to pitch the banks in Launceston that George Town is worth the risk and needs their support! George Town is possibly one of the hardest places in Tassie and Australia to obtain finance for self employed business people. I discovered this last year even though some of our businesses other land we own is debt free! By the time the doors open our total financial commitment will be way above half a million dollars! I’m not made of money, but I am made of backbone and i am a persistent bugger! You gotta be persistent if you’re a Richmond fan! I tell you the approx amount to fully open the doors just to give perspective. Not 1 major bank will easily lend money in George Town! Crazy but true! For now be sure that the tens of thousands already spent on design, consultants, council, lawyers etc is not going to get wasted! When i have the next update I’ll post on here. Looking forward to delivering an amazing Gym and Yoga centre to George Town as soon as possible. All the best for a great new year !! Stuart Max and TJ

20.01.2022 What do you think of our logo?

We will be in touch soon with more updates after we hopefully get the nod from Council. Regards Stuart and Max.

16.01.2022 Hi everyone Well our week has finally arrived! This Wednesday Council consider and then vote on my lodged application to amend the planning scheme to allow a Gym to be operated in the Light Industrial area. ... If you know any councillors now is a great time to remind them you and many others really want a great brand new Gym ASAP! Stay tuned! Regards Stuart

16.01.2022 Question time When you train, do you train one body part at a time or multiple body parts? Theres no right or wrong, but there are pros and cons of each and your exercise, muscle gain or fat loss goals should determine which of these options you take.... Let me know which you prefer George Town and watch this space for more info at the end of the week

14.01.2022 Hey hey hey we are on our way! Step 1: the biggest step is now complete! We applied to council to amend the zone to permit a gym on our site! Council went through the official processes and we feel honoured that council did not receive 1 objection to a new gym being built. Step 2: ... Council send all this file off to Hobart for another formal piece of red tape. Fingers crossed its a tick n flick down there and council get the nod within 60 days Step 3: We can then legally lodge a Development Application to council for a gym and yoga centre!! Thanks SO much everyone for your understanding and patience! It will most certainly be worth the wait for all of us. Happy Wednesday indeed! Stuart, Max, TJ

12.01.2022 Back in 2016 when I met one of my idols! Does anybody know who this big guy is? (Hint: He's an Aussie)

11.01.2022 So the other day I put a question out there, 'Is weight training or cardio better for burning fat?' 63% of you thought cardio was better and 37% of you thought that weight training was more effective. So what's the answer? While both are effective, and obviously the result will depend on how/what you're doing your cardio/weights, LIFTING WEIGHTS IS BETTER! (Hence why we're opening up a gym ;) )... Yes you can burn a heap of calories on the treadmill, but over time your body is going to adapt and become more efficient (if only our cars did that). That means the calories you would normally burn in an hour on the treadmill would eventually take you two hours to burn, or running at twice the speed (roughly). Who feels like or has time for that? To add to that, the moment you step off the treadmill your calorie furnace is extinguished and no more fat is burned. WEIGHTS on the other hand are a different story. You can burn just as much calories in a full body weights workout in the same amount of time. To burn more, you can simply increase the weight or shorten your rests (yep, you can actually be out of the gym quicker and burn more calories). Aiming to hit every body part in a workout and keep your rests between sets between 30 seconds and 1 minute to keep your heart rate up is ideal for burning fat and having a good looking set of muscles underneath once all the fats gone! The best part of lifting weights? Once you walk out of the gym, your body will KEEP BURNING CALORIES to recover and repair your muscles! That means for the next 24-48 hours your fat burning furnace will keep ticking over. So an hour on the treadmill and an hour lifting weights might be fairly equal, but the extra calorie burning weight training does later on easily outweighs cardio's fat burning potential. Also, the more muscle mass on your skeleton the more calories you'll burn throughout the day even just sitting around! This doesn't mean you need to look like (my idol) Arnold Schwarzenegger, simply adding a bit of muscle to your frame will do the trick. The bottom line? Try a bit of both and mix it up, both have their benefits. While weights will burn more calories over time, ultimately the best answer is whatever YOU ENJOY! Find a form of exercise that you enjoy and is realistic to stick do so that you'll keep doing it. Results take time, and the more you enjoy your exercise regime the better and easier it'll be. Exercising with some friends either in the gym or in a team sport will go a long way to making your exercise more enjoyable :) Hope that answers the question George Town, let me know if you have any more questions :)

11.01.2022 Calling everyone over 60, we need your help! As part of catering for all demographics of the George Town community we plan on implementing a couple of programs each week catering for those over 60. The class will be perfect for those who'd like a bit of a slower, more gentle gym class to suit their experienced joints and bones. Resistance training is not only a great way to stay in shape at any age, but is increasingly important as we age to prevent diseases such as osteopor...osis, arthritis as well as keeping our weight at a healthy range to maintain healthy movement. Please let us know below in the comments what days and times these 45 minute classes would work for you and we'll do our best to cater for all :-) Thank you for your help, Progressive Health and Fitness

10.01.2022 So you may have been wondering, 'Who's behind the new gym?' Well allow us to introduce ourselves for those who haven't met us We're Max, 23 and Stu, 52. Max is currently travelling Europe whilst studying a degree in Sport and Exercise Science and working on the gyms business model remotely. Max has managed a couple of different gym's in QLD and is passionate about looking after the members and getting them results! Everything is well underway and ticking along nicely, we can't wait to meet you all soon! Stay tuned for more content, giveaways, updates and more coming your way soon George Town. Max and Stu

10.01.2022 ***MUST READ*** So the other day I put a question out there, 'Do you train multiple body parts per workout or focus on one muscle group.' 79% of you picked the right answer as I'll explain below. Training multiple muscle groups per workout is more beneficial for both fat loss AND muscle growth whether you're just starting out in the gym or consider yourself and experienced lifter. ... Getting more of your body moving and working against resistance burns more calories thus burning more fat, which is a win for everyone, triggers a bigger hormonal response (a good response), and believe it not guys, results in more muscle growth! Put it this way, if your aim is to burn fat, and you're spending an hour in the gym JUST to work your shoulders, you've left around 90% of your body untouched. That doesn't make much sense right? If your primary goal is fat loss, try hitting at least half of your body each workout and each muscle group around 3 times per week. Additionally, if you're primary goal is hypertrophy (gaining muscle mass) as I mentioned THIS STYLE OF TRAINING IS MORE BENEFICIAL! Most guys will spend an hour demolishing their chest on a Monday, and then feel the effects of DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) until Wednesday. That's a pretty good indication right there that your muscles are ready to be worked again. But instead, they work one day a week and go on holiday for 6. That doesn't amount to much growth, and unless your muscles are the size of Arnie's they don't need that much load to grow. Try hitting each muscle group 4 times per week with a smaller load. Your muscles will have grown accustomed to being annihilated one day per week and resting 6. So working 4 days a week in smaller bursts will SHOCK THE MUSCLES which will result in growth! Don't believe me? Try it out for a few months and you'll see the results :-) Thanks for reading
