24.01.2022 Probably not the greatest or longest straddle planche I've done however my focus is now on other things so this bad boy has moved to the maintence block. I'm happy that I can pull something like this off even when just rolling out of bed. The maintence block doesn't mean something isn't important any more it just means we want to try and stay within close practice of what we could accomplish with that movement whilst we focus on other skills we want to get down. 20.01.2022 RingStrong Complexes can be performed by almost any body, here is a beginner alongside a more advanced RingStrong Complex. The beginner complex was for 3 reps across the board and more advanced complex.fpr 3,5,8 reps. We also paired this with 60 sec of alternating cossack squats for 3 rounds and finished with 50 x V-ups. 05.01.2022 I get asked quite a lot when I'm teaching GMB classes - 'wow you must have been doing this since you were little to be able to this stuff?!'. When I tell them that I haven't they are truly amazed and inspired to know that as an adult it is still possible with the right direction and dedication. I got into GMB stuff in 2012, I had some strength, very limited mobility / flexibility but what I did have was a shit ton of desire to one day get a handstand, muscle up on the rings ...and a planche. It took a long time, I had to gain a different type of strength, unlock and open tight areas of the body and learn new skills. It didn't however feel like a chore because i knew that if I stuck to it and worked through the programs for the skills I wanted to get good at, then I would finally reach my destination. What I didn't realise until now is that there is no destination there is only the journey to continual improvement. I can do a super slow 2 minute muscle up, hold a straight handstand for 2 mins and nail a planche yet I still see the need for much improvement. So, am I saying this to blow my own horn? Nope, I just wanted to shout out to all the people who have tried and given up with this style of training or who are yet to reap the benefits of this type of training. All too often we are laser focused in on the end result and forget the journey is just as, if not more important. We guage our results on the short term results of a crash diet or by constantly grinding our bodies into the Mat by that vomit worthy training session, and it doesnt have to be nor should it be this way. Your training should be a fun, enjoyable, rewarding and at times frustrating and painful (in a good way) experience. If your keen on trying something different or getting back into this style of training then look into what we do here at GMB fitness and see if it's a fit for you.
