25.01.2022 Regions relieved as borders re-open A sigh of relief sounded over the Midwest and Northwest with the announcement of WA regions re-opening from this Friday. ...Shane Van Styn - Mayor said local governments, businesses and residents have finally been heard. It’s not just Geraldton that need this - but all of the Coral Coast and the Northwest. We are so relieved that our voices have finally been heard." Mayor Van Styn is now hoping restrictions will lift even more as tourists start to descend on our towns and cities. Our businesses that can open and still socially distance should be allowed to without arbitrary numbers of persons." Read the full story here https://bit.ly/2ZxofMj

BP will be supported by GHD Advisory to deliver the $4.42 million feasibility study, which will investigate producing renewable hydrogen using electrolysis. Under the study, BP would use grid connected power and procure renewable electricity through a power purchase agreement (PPA). Renewable hydrogen would then be used instead of natural gas to produce renewable ammonia. https://arena.gov.au//bp-australia-study-looks-to-scale-u/

The Convention will be held from 27-29 October. This year’s convention theme is ‘Building resilient and adaptive communities that thrive’. The annual Convention should have been taking place in the City of Ballarat, Victoria this October, however with face to face conferencing being challenging this year, the ART Board made the decision to move the Convention to an online format. Topics for the online Convention include visitor servicing, tourism recovery, data and trends, crisis management, social license, tourism and protected areas plus much more. Early-bird registrations are now open https://regionaltourism.com.au/convention/ #ARTC20

08.01.2022 GERALDTON BYPASSED - OPTION 1 IN PIC So this week, Mainroads plans to get State approval for Geraldton to be taken off the roadmaps with a bypass starting from ...Dongara going through to Moonyoonooka, cutting farms in half between Geraldton and Dongara, possibly decimating our emerging horticulture district to build on/off ramps at Geraldton Mt Magnet Road, destroying in town highway businesses that rely on passing traffic and more so that a THIRD highway can be built going north. Just upgrade what we already have to be triple road train compliant! We don't need more highways and bypasses costing billions, we need safer and more efficient highways that we already have. The proposal also sees a call for the building of the Oakajee Narngulu Infrastructure Corridor, rather than extending the THRID highway north around Geraldton and Northampton, which is at least a piece of common sense in all this. (Option 6 in second pic) See more
