25.01.2022 It’s World Mental Health Day watch our latest #VirtualWHS on mentally healthy workplaces.

23.01.2022 How many times do we look at a young person doing something and shake your head? Probably lots. Make sure your workplace has a good safety culture. Openly discuss being safe and the consequences. Discuss examples of where things went wrong. Hope everyone is having a great day! Be safe people!

21.01.2022 Good Morning Everyone!!! Today I am sharing with you a link to a guide that helps farmers and graziers to understand how the Workplace Health and Safety Acts and Regulations apply to them. "A Guide to Developing a Health and Safety Management System for Small to Medium Sized Agricultural Businesses" is a 23 page guide with topics such as:... Plant and Machinery (ie. tractors & quad bikes) High Risk Work Electrical Safety Hazardous Chemicals & spray drift Welding Animal Handling Children on Farms and much more... You can open it on your computer or ipad, print it off if you want, and have a read through. If you would like help with assessing how safe your property is, I am happy to help. It is as simple as identifying the hazards, assessing the risk, implementing controls, and monitoring.

15.01.2022 Quad Bikes! I have seen them used to feed horses, for mustering, getting from point A to point B, to get to a favourite fishing spot, for pigging, for checking fences, for having a bit of fun, and for going FAST! I also know people who have gotten hurt. The University of New South Wales has been conducting an ongoing study about quad bike safety. (link below) Please take a few minutes to have a look. I found it very interesting as to which demographics were injured the most... and what they were doing. (Hint: pg 39) The time of day... what type of surface was being driven on... the age of the person... whether they stayed on the quad or were thrown, if it rolled on them, were they wearing a helmet, and how fast they were going. Do you have any rules for riding your bike? The link will also take you to the survey. If you have a few minutes and can help the university out it would be appreciated.

10.01.2022 Click the link and the kit is yours. Be safe my friends!

05.01.2022 Hi Everyone! This is a link from SafeWork South Australia. There is another guide listed. However, they have also included some fantastic downloads which everyone can access. Setting up a safe workplace Plant and machinery Farm hazards and solutions... Industry-specific hazards Health and wellbeing Further information Proformas It is important to understand what your responsibilities are. I especially want to point out that they have included a 'Health and Wellbeing' section. The farmers and graziers do it tough even at the best of times. I will dedicate another post to farmers mental health, but I just wanted to mention this because even though we all know how important it is, there is still a stigma about mental health so its great to see it included.
