20.01.2022 Finally complete! The design of the St Kilda Residence looks to respond to the client’s desire for an interconnected yet efficiently organised family home. The courtyard along the north elevation has a twofold purpose, firstly to punctuate the plan and allow for the ingress of north light throughout both floors and secondly to increase the visual connection between the primary areas in the home. The external cladding of natural timber will allow the house to harmonise with its environment over time. Photos by Jessie Prince - www.princejessie.com/

16.01.2022 The clients brief was to provide a room in which to enjoy their lush and established garden, designed by well known landscape architects, Eckersley Garden Architecture. In particular, the main objectives were to maximise views to a large oak tree to the north and be able to open up the room towards the south facing deck and pool during the warmer months. The room was to provide an intimate sitting and dining room for the majority of the year but also accommodate a large numbe...r of family and friends as the clients often entertain. A key strategy in the planning was to provide views to the garden from all locations within the room. Your line of sight is continually drawn out from the room itself and into the garden beyond. Angled skylights over the dining area are orientated to capture views of the canopy to the large oak tree to the north and maples to the south. The pitched roof also makes reference to the roof line of the existing two storey house. The low flat roof over the sitting room attempts to ground the new building into the surrounding garden so as not to appear to overbearing. Photographer: Jessie Prince www.princejessie.com

13.01.2022 Located on a tree lined bay-side street, the design responds to the clients desire for an interconnected yet efficiently organised family home. The courtyard along the north elevation has a twofold purpose, firstly to punctuate the plan and allow for the ingress of north light throughout both floors and secondly to increase the visual connection between the primary areas in the home. The external cladding of natural timber will allow the house to harmonise with its environment over time. The project is currently at design development stage with construction hopefully commencing in early 2013.

13.01.2022 Dont be getting any ideas about becoming an architect !

11.01.2022 The brief called for the addition of two bedrooms and ensuite to an existing warehouse conversion to accommodate the requirements of a growing family. A large, somewhat impractical and underutilised space to the ground floor has been divided to house the bedrooms, bathroom and a rumpus room. Maximising daylight to the long narrow plan was a key concern. Sliding ply wood panels to the bedrooms allow light to penetrate the central rumpus room when open and offer privacy when closed. 02.01.2022 The brief for project was to provide a contemporary, light and open living space to an existing Victorian terrace in North Melbourne. The existing kitchen and laundry room to the rear of the property were demolished to provide a clear footprint for the new addition. A long linear joinery unit which runs the length of the room houses main functions such as the kitchen, laundry cupboard, entertainment recess and storage. The design looks to maximise space and storage on the narrow site and create a smooth transition between the old and new elements of the house.
