20.01.2022 Remember, stress is a response to stimulation that makes you feel threatened and not always provoked by real circumstances, rather a perception that you are bei...ng attacked. A worry, thought, fear or projection into the future of what might go wrong can all become real stressors. While short-lived, we carry them with us and dont know how to reset our mindset. If you have survived trauma, it can live in your body even after the original stressor is gone. Stress creates hormonal responses that cause weight gain and insulin resistance. Cortisol is an adrenal hormone that helps you to run faster, see further, hear better and pump fuel into your bloodstream for quick energy. It is the hormone that helps us survive in the face of true danger. It also shuts down digestion and slows your metabolism. All of this is perfectly normal in the short term, yet if left unchecked, prolonged stress and high levels of cortisol cause high blood sugar, increased belly fat, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and muscle loss. You cant eliminate stress completely, but you can reduce it with meditation, yoga or deep relaxation. These activities activate pathways that promote weight loss and health. See more

So excited to add it to my collection of Katherines amazing pieces. It will be enjoyed every single day (because everyday is a special occasion!). 11.01.2022 A N X I E T Y is our human stress response | P R A C T I C E tackling the causes of stress to R E D U C E the response. . Our human stress response is our body...s way of signalling danger. . THE BODY & MIND SENSES Tension Stress Worry Imbalance Emotional stress Shallow breathing Fear From our mind & or body, these are rightly so, signals that we are not ok . The mind then signals to the adrenal glands to start the stress hormones= body symptoms & also the brain gives all the importance to the amygdala= mind is focused on potential danger/stress, the worst. ALSO the pre frontal cortex (the part of the brain that helps us to makes sense) has stood back to give the amygdala the presidency. So we find it very hard to make sense when the alarm is on. . WHY? Because humans have a survival response A N X I E T Y | S T R E S S R E S P O N S E | a need to Fight it Flight it *run avoid get away Freeze * look away, stuck to the spot. . Until the danger passes. If you were infront of an immediate danger it would make sense, humans have this to survive! . Once you have calmed, you can think clearly again & can begin to recover, you can use these to prevent the causes in the first place. See more
