23.01.2022 I inherited a cheddar making vat from my father, and we made many batches together. So today I made some cheddar, but this time with raw sheep milk, which is this time of year. These squeaky, salty fresh curds are delicious, but it is still darn hard work. 09.01.2022 Because we share milk with the lambs, they all come through the dairy each milking and get drafted off the side to keep them safe and learn to eat some supplementary feed. They are fantastic at learning this routine and love kids club. Even though they are only separated for an hour or so, there is a bit of commotion when reunited, mainly on the mothers behalf! This system means less milk for cheese, but the lambs are so healthy, with robust immunity and digestion, plus they get some handling as well. When they dont need milk anymore, they will already know how to feed themselves in the pasture.
